Re: COMPASS Test
How much of the test that you’ll be required to complete depends on your experience level. If you’re applying for a DEC position I believe that you skip the ATPL questions and possibly the math section. You’ll complete the joystick and rudder pedal exercise that you mentioned, as well as some multi ...

Re: So, years ago......
Thanks for the reply and the valuable insight, RippleRock. It will be interesting to see what is presented to the pilots from the union in the coming weeks. It sounds like it will be a battle alright, but here’s hoping that the rewards are worth the short term pain. History is being made and we are ...

Re: So, years ago......
Any insight as to how things are progressing so far now that the contract has been expired for a few weeks? Has there been any kind of dialogue happening that would indicate that things are pointed in the right direction, or is it still too soon to say? I understand that the union can’t disclose eve...

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”
Glad to hear that commuting is a topic of discussion in the current negotiations, RippleRock. Do you know how much emphasis is being put on this right now, and what sort of gains the union hopes to achieve in this regard? It seems like it would be in the company’s best interest if they hope to appea...
Re: Interview
You will be asked to complete five brief aptitude tests, along with a work related behaviour questionnaire prior to attending your interview. The tests measure different aptitudes such as spatial awareness, reaction time, monitoring ability and multi tasking. In one particular test you are required ...

Re: Realistic upgrade time
Thanks for the replies. It’s good to hear different perspectives from people on the inside. Fleet expansion will obviously be the biggest variable going forward, and 787 growth could change the timeline quite a bit. We will have to see how that plays out. But needless to say, I would never go in wit...

Re: Realistic upgrade time
Fair enough. Thanks. Another variable would be senior pilots leaving for AC. I’m guessing that has slowed down with the new contract? I know it’s still early, but are more people turning down interviews and offers from AC?

Realistic upgrade time
Hi everyone. I realize that this subject is a moving target, but I’m curious to hear what a realistic upgrade timeline would look like for a new hire today. Obviously a lot of unknown variables are in play, but is 8 to 10 years still a fair guess? Is there anything in the works that might lower this...
