Jazz did away with that in 2009. One scale now.bombardierfixer wrote:Thanks man.
Yeah that's a nice contract, kinda like Jazz's with the two scales. This industry is fucked.

I had a jazz medical a little over a year ago but for maintenance and it was the complete physical examination. Took about 1.5 hours. Hard to believe you guys only require a urine test?

Re: Stevenson Aviation AME program info
I graduated in december from the diploma program in Winnipeg. They course is layed out very well with very knowledgable instructors. I enjoyed my 15 months there. Highly recommend it there Just out of curiosity, how many people were in your class and how many have found gainful employment in aviati...

No doubt, I wouldn't accept US dollars either! After the US economy implodes in the next several months they will be worthless!
Oh, and 3000 to 4000 is pretty low.

Just to add, Jazz also has a RIDICULOUS 10 levels on their certifying engineer payscale. It takes a long time to get to the top of the scale, especially if you are hired with none of their aircraft type endorsements.

Talk to the fine people at Canadore college aviation campus, they will give you the run down and requirements and maybe a hiring percentage after graduation. AME licences are Federal M1= under 12,566lbs M2=over 12,566lbs S=structural E=avionics. M1/M2 courses are 2years E and S are one year. Hey, y...

Re: TC Logbook Approvals
No, it isn't about having the necessary tasks in your logbook in the next 6 months. It's about being within 6 months of having the necessary amount of work experience hours and being able supply some kind of documentation to prove it. So in other words it is possible your friend was within 6 months ...

Re: TC Logbook Approvals
Just Curious. When I got licensed about 4 years ago I had to have my logbook approved before I could write CARS. I have talked to two people now who just wrote and passed their CARS exam but do not have the required signouts to be licensed. Have the rules changed or has this always been the way? Ta...

Yes, the aviation industry sure didn't turn out to be everything I had hoped it would be... or was told it would be! Every time I drive by Stevenson Aviation here in YWG I'm tempted to burst into the classrooms and yell "STOP! You're all making a huge mistake!! Get out before you regret it 10 years ...

Re: license numbers
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't T.C. drop the 'M' designator from our license numbers several years ago? My AME license simply has the number in the top right, with the ratings printed in the middle. However my employer still uses the 'M' on our ACA certificates, so we still sign the journey log...

Re: Jazz Air LP signed an agreement with Thomas Cook Canada
Look on the bright side some Skyservice mechanics will be lucky, as they will be getting jobs from this. Jazz mechanics will not be endorsed in time for this because they need 6 months on type experience (courses start in July). This deal could save the airline industry in toronto. with the integra...

Finally, if you are going to take the course, do flightsafety. I have yet to talk with one person who has taken the flightline route who has been happy with them. They were doing the "full course" for avmax in a two week period, and the quality really showed with the graduates. I did get the flight...

Re: Line maint. vs heavy maint. vs overhaul vs ?
Not to piss anybody off but all of my experiences with line involved a large amount of dog fu*king. Whether it was extra long smoke breaks or raiding the galleys and watching movies or simply working four hours and getting paid for eight if there was nothing else to do. Not every plane has an incom...

Re: 5.11 Tactical Series UC3.400 Flashlight
I have a streamlight, the one that takes 4 AA batteries. Mine starts to flicker after a few days too. I noticed that the batteries sort of get dimpled on the ends (the 2 batteries at the top) after it gets dropped a few times and consequently doesn't get proper contact on the LED assembly. So what I...

no it's 12months. For either direction. M1 to M2 or M2 to M1. http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/RegServ/Affairs/cars/Part5/Standards/t566s01.htm The 6 month requirement is "on type" before a maintenance release could be signed. Which could be part of the 12 months for the total on the large type or...

Actually it is minimum 6 months time, not 12, before you can be issued an M1 rating, if you already have an M2 License... and of course another log book completed with 70% tasks completed on M1 aircraft.

Silly question, but what does the "NG" stand for? How does it work if you have an endorsement on say a 737-200 but end up working somewhere with 800's? Is the "NG" mean it's good for any model of 737? Do you need difference course for each series to be eligible to have ACA? Just curious.
