Re: Info on Carson

I highly recommend you believe everything you read on avcanada and make your career/life decisions based on that information. If you are qualified and interested, why not just call the company and ask. I hear the starting f/o pay is 36k+ with a 4/4 schedule in yvr not sure the sched in ylw or yyc. ...

Re: I cant believe they allow me to do this!

There's nothing dangerous about night VFR if the weather is good. Knowing the route or area helps alot too. Personally Id rather be in a turbine than a Piston but that holds true during the day also. I always feel a bit like a mosquito pilot over France on a night raid.

Re: Pilot Opinion Survey Re: Changes to FDT Regulations

I'm all for pilots getting rest when they need it. Are there some operators that stretch duty time to a maximum and fly the bag out of some of us? I'm sure. Do the regulations need modernization sure.. But as a pilot who works way up north in an unforgiving environment I want the choice to say eithe...

Re: What Catagory of approaches is WestJet cetrified?

Hey CCR thanks for the info.
I was doing a little reading on the RNPs. I figured it was an ops spec. Alaska Airlines started those hey?
Cool stuff
Those Catagory 3 ILSs are amazing.
Makes all the approaches I'm doing right now look like bad contact approaches lol.

The regional will have a separate application site. It likely won't be up and running for a few months yet.

Re: Updating online application

Is the regional resume pool the same as the mainline pool? I want to apply at the regional and have an online application just wondering if I have it on the right list?

Re: Flightaware tracking, How does it work?

I understand the requirement to close the flight plan. I don't think that seeing my arrival on flightaware means I don't have to close. I WAS under the impression that flightawaregot it's info FROM Nav Canada. So seeing my arrival on flightaware means that either tower, an FSS, myself, or maybe disp...

Flightaware tracking, How does it work?

I make alot of IFR trips to controlled and FSS airports. I use flightaware to track the other crew to know when I go on call. It works too good sometimes! Today I landed in a small strip next to the mountains and walked into the unmanned terminal building. I looked at my Phone to call NavCan with my...

Hey Slider, Its easy to think when you are first starting out in Aviation thats its all about how many hours you have in your logbook that will determine how fast or how good of a job you will get when you first start looking. All new hires are currently to the Second Officer position. Are you prepared to play the piano for a few years before your move to First Officer? Have you or do you work for KFC? Your post made it sound like you do. I'd really like to work there. Finally settle around YBW so my little guy can know ...

Shame on the FAA

Many of us have heard it on the internet and before today I did'nt give it a second thought. The little boy "directing" traffic with an ATC microphone. Today on the news it was announced the father of that little guy has been placed on suspension. For Shame on the FAA. I agree this is something that...
