Nose high was likely because it looks like they didn't use much flaps. Disclaimer, I don't know much about the Q400.

Re: Air Canada Rouge EGPWS warning at Huatulco
So true: These days most recurrent training sessions are so fixated on SOP's, aircraft system malfunctions, TCAS, EGPWS and windshear recoveries that basic IFR and airmanship atrophy. I don't blame the pilots for this loss, although yes, anybody who does hold an Instrument Rating should know better.

Is it just me or the images shot from the air on media channels show the wreckage with his body floating beside the plane??? If so, what a disgrace.

Must be an error with the registration that lead to this because the plane has been in Bordeaux, France doing charters as per flightaware.

Pelmet, I've had this beef for a while towards Pearson, especially T3. One day at Viscount, GTAA employees had a stand to promote safety in the escalators. I had a laugh at first, then I took it upon myself to have a chat with them. I said it's nice to promote safety and all but it would be actually...

How's Sunwing's plan of expansion going for next winter?
I'd be shocked if anybody did turn a profit this winter on the "down south" destinations, but we'll never know except for TS.

Re: Dangerous practice coming from Europe
but certain airlines in Europe have found a way to circumnavigate that obstacle by not charging the pilots directly for their training, but by hiring pilots only from a particular training outfit that provided type ratings for a fee. At least TC "forbids" to buy a 705 type rating or recurrent in a ...

Mr. North, To partly answer your question. The A/P didn't click off. It changed mode. From the report: " A low detent force (4 pounds in the roll axis and 5 pounds in the pitch axis) is required to move the control wheel out of the centre (detent) position. This force is comparable to the force requ...

Re: Video - Avianca Airbus A330 fuel leak (lost 17 tons!!!)
Well, it depends on the failure. If you'd have a fuel pump problem, the ECAM would tell you. In a fuel leak situation (I mean just a fuel leak, no other crap going on), your warning would be the ECAM: Wing Tank Low Level, which is a bit "late" when you look at it. Bear in mind there is a lot of ecam...

Re: Video - Avianca Airbus A330 fuel leak (lost 17 tons!!!)
I don't know what the guys in there were doing, but the QRH is pretty explicit regarding massive fuel leak. If the tank depletes more than 500 kgs in less than 30min compared to the other tank, it most likely comes from the engine. Then shut said engine down and "Do not use reversers". None of this ...
