Re: Low Oil Pressure - Other Guages Normal
The very fact that 'gauge' is spelled incorrectly leads me to highly suspect the legitimacy of that.

Employment records
Hi, folks — definitely a long shot here, but do any of you AC types have access to employment records, specifically looking for when my late father-in-law began at TCA. He retired in 1978. PM me if you can help, otherwise, thanks for your time!

Wow, 36-hr flight time, two pilots. Anyone know the logistics of this with respect to rest?

Would lack of flaps (with engines operating nominally) cause zero or negative vertical speed?

Re: YYZ RJ landing Accident
Still focused there … ie “Pushover” just reminds about when transitioning a gust peak (max 40mph here) then let’s say goes right back into the lower sustained windspeed (23mph minimum in this case) alone right there seems to me can be enough of a smaller (“unexpected”) degree of “pushover” pitch ef...

Re: YYZ RJ landing Accident
Crew gets a warning about some kind of “bump” (possible ahead) … any PIC considers such ‘heads up’ warning. It’s seconds ahead of this event, so any reaction to that info is with-in the sequence of events of this accident as well. This word "bump"...is this standard ATC-approved terminology? I've n...

Re: Camp Picton Airbase for sale
Picton Airport is permanently closed as of January 1st, 2025. Prince Edward Flying Club was kicked out of their clubhouse and hangar last June. Soon enough the runways will be removed and replaced with housing.

Re: Flair off runway excursion YKF
During the cruise portion of the flight, a passenger medical issue occupied the flight crew’s attention for a significant length of time, preventing them from having an opportunity to obtain controlled rest on the flight deck during the flight. Curious as to how this could occur with only two pilot...

Re: What kind of seniority does it take to have good money & schedule at AC?
A friend's son got into AC in June 2022 when he was 26, and came from the corporate world. He became a CA on the 320 in April 2024 at 28. Incredibly quick upgrade but what kind of QOL would this young guy have right now? Best guess, zero. he's earning close to 250K + If he can't have a decent QOL a...

Re: Letter Suffix in Flight#
It cuts down on like or similar sounding call signs. Instead of AF123 and BA123 which when busy can be a real issue, you have AF123X and BA123YZ. Far less chance of one taking the others instruction etc.
So they would be assigned this suffix enroute? Or when filing the flight plan?

Letter Suffix in Flight#
I heard several flights the other day who were adding a letter suffix to their flight number -- such as "X-Ray" (was AF), and one even had two "Yankee Zulu" (was Speedbird-BA)
What is the significance?

Re: New hire QOL: WB FO/RP or NB ?
Title says it all... In terms of quality of life, as a new hire junior FO (YYZ or YUL based), what would be the best seat if your #1 criteria is to be home the most (either overnights or total time away from base)? Widebody FO/RP or Narrow body FO? I think if you live in YYZ, YVR or YUL and want to...

Re: PIC TIME OR MULTI
Short answer is no. The exception is PIC/ US (under supervision) So how does a young F/0 who joins a regional with less than 1500hrs ever get anywhere? And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the multi-million dollar question in Canadian aviation. Get the PIC requirements for the ATPL as soon as you can...

Re: PIC TIME OR MULTI
PIC time is king. Just ask any Jazz F/O that can’t upgrade because they don’t have enough to get their ATPL. On top of that it will make any future upgrade easier. Newbie question: does a 705 F/O ever log PIC time? What about when he/she is the PF? Short answer is no. The exception is PIC/ US (unde...
