Re: Current Group 1 IFR?
Perhaps a better question would be does an IFR ever EXPIRE, if you’ve never obtained a type rating? IFR has nothing to do with obtaining a type rating except that for a 705 type rating you need to have an IFR rating. It doesn't need to be current. But you need to have one. The PPC will renew your I...

Re: Porter vs AC
I completely agree. I'm at Porter now on the E2. I genuinely love it. But I'm 42. If I was your age I would definitely be looking for AC. The rapid expansion that we're going through right now is extremely exciting but it's also quite risky. No one knows if Porter's going to be here for the long-ter...

Re: Any Update On The New Contract?
Right. So what's the issue? It's still more pay for less work. With the opportunity to start making more money more easily. Sorry for being so dense here. It appears most people think it's a bad deal so I'm sure I'm just missing something. Have you read through the whole LOU? The 4 periods of no li...

Re: Any Update On The New Contract?
It's not more pay for less work if you're still going to be scheduled at close to 85 hours. How is it not more pay? Those 85 hours are being paid at a higher rate. And if you do only work 75 hours you're still making more money than previously. More pay for less work. This is just a way to pay rese...

FAA Instrument Renewal in Canada?
Hello, I'm curious if an FAA IFR can be renewed in Canada at all. My colleague is looking to convert his FAA ATP to a TC ATPL but it's my understanding that he needs to renew his US IFR cert before he can do that. Unfortunately his US Visa request was denied so he cannot do it in the US. I'd appreci...

Re: Any Update On The New Contract?
Lower MMG means nothing without lower OT start and lower maximum monthly credit scheduling. I'm not sure I agree. If you compare the current rate with the current MMG of 85, would the pilots be making more with the new rate and new MMG? If so then that (in itself) is a win. Plus with a lower MMG it...

Re: YVR destinations
Curious to know why you find a yyz-sfo or yvr leg that bad? Is it because of the E2? Or is it simply because it's too long time wise, and it wouldn't matter what plane you were doing it on? It doesn't matter what I'm flying. After 2.5 hours I'm ready to be on the ground. The E2 is great. Except for...

Re: YVR destinations
I can’t believe there’s a serious discussion about the E2 doing 6 hour flights across the Pacific. It’s a horrendous enough experience on a 37  Yep. And as a pilot on the E2 I can tell you I have zero interest. @#$! YYZ-YVR is too long for me. Give me YOW, YUL, and YHZ turns all day and I'm a ...

Re: Considering jumping ship
Good day all! I currently fly the RJ out of YVR. Like many others, I'm considering leaving the brand for something different. Better money, life style, etc. I compiled a short list of burning questions, I realize that many, if not all, of them have already been asked and answered in the many thread...

Re: Renewal ADBs Coming Out - Check Them Carefully
I sent mine around the beginning of December and I just got mine back today and wow....I'm embarrassed with how bad it looks. It honestly looks like someone made it in their basement. Someone mentioned here that the new ones look quite a bit cheaper but I guess I wasn't suspecting them to be this ba...

Re: Transat or Porter?
their group seems to think they’re different from all the rest and don’t need ALPA. I guess we shall see where all that goes. Before the E2s arrived that may have been the case. But in the next 2-3 years the majority of the pilots will not be old school Porter pilots. The vast majority of the DECs ...

Re: Pairings at Porter
Can someone please give an example of what a multiday pairing looks like on the jet? How many legs on average per day, layover duration and locations, hours flown per day. Thank you It's pretty typical stuff. Usually either 2 longer legs or 4 shorter legs. Layovers are usually 15 ish hours unless i...

Re: Dash to E2 left seat upgrading
There is currently no approved upgrade program for the E2 so the only way to go left seat on the E2 is to move directly into the left seat. The company is working on the upgrade program and I don't think it'll be too much longer before it's in place.
