Re: YVR destinations
Curious to know why you find a yyz-sfo or yvr leg that bad? Is it because of the E2? Or is it simply because it's too long time wise, and it wouldn't matter what plane you were doing it on? It doesn't matter what I'm flying. After 2.5 hours I'm ready to be on the ground. The E2 is great. Except for...

Re: YVR destinations
I can’t believe there’s a serious discussion about the E2 doing 6 hour flights across the Pacific. It’s a horrendous enough experience on a 37  Yep. And as a pilot on the E2 I can tell you I have zero interest. @#$! YYZ-YVR is too long for me. Give me YOW, YUL, and YHZ turns all day and I'm a ...

Re: Considering jumping ship
Good day all! I currently fly the RJ out of YVR. Like many others, I'm considering leaving the brand for something different. Better money, life style, etc. I compiled a short list of burning questions, I realize that many, if not all, of them have already been asked and answered in the many thread...

Re: Renewal ADBs Coming Out - Check Them Carefully
I sent mine around the beginning of December and I just got mine back today and wow....I'm embarrassed with how bad it looks. It honestly looks like someone made it in their basement. Someone mentioned here that the new ones look quite a bit cheaper but I guess I wasn't suspecting them to be this ba...

Re: Transat or Porter?
their group seems to think they’re different from all the rest and don’t need ALPA. I guess we shall see where all that goes. Before the E2s arrived that may have been the case. But in the next 2-3 years the majority of the pilots will not be old school Porter pilots. The vast majority of the DECs ...

Re: Pairings at Porter
Can someone please give an example of what a multiday pairing looks like on the jet? How many legs on average per day, layover duration and locations, hours flown per day. Thank you It's pretty typical stuff. Usually either 2 longer legs or 4 shorter legs. Layovers are usually 15 ish hours unless i...

That's what I'm hearing too. I hope all the crews land on their feet. Porter's about to get a bunch of resumes.TurkeyFarmYQX wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 4:44 pm Nevermind then, Lynx is ceasing operations on Sunday.

Re: Dash to E2 left seat upgrading
There is currently no approved upgrade program for the E2 so the only way to go left seat on the E2 is to move directly into the left seat. The company is working on the upgrade program and I don't think it'll be too much longer before it's in place.

Re: AvCanada finally restored and functional once again
It's definitely not restored and functional. I'm getting "General Error" about 50% of the time and even when it does work it takes much much longer than normal for pages to load.

Re: Example Schedule (again)
Regarding the original post about schedules at Porter…. If you only care about trying to book a bunch of days off in a row followed by a bunch of work days as much as you can (like a commuter would), how feasible is that (provided you don’t care what exact days you have off and on) at a junior leve...

Re: New Pay Increase for DH4 Captains
Year 1 means years with the company (DOH), or years on type? You start at year one on your date of hire. Did they not state that they'd match years of service when it comes to pay level? Or was that only temporary? Edit: Nope it's still in the ad. Be recognized for your current Years-of-Service (in...

Not that I'm aware of. But still, for it to happen to both thrust levers at the same time? Quite unlikely.JustaCanadian wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 11:11 am Or is it possible to inadvertently catch the levers and shutdown and you close the thrust levers to slow down.

Re: RAIC application- Travel for more than 90 days
I would imagine you'll be fine. They will provide you will a yellow temporary RAIC that will allow you to work but you'll have to be escorted by someone with a red RAIC. When I applied for my RAIC I was really worried because I had been working overseas for a number of years. I worked all over the M...

Re: Porter Airlines - when to apply?
Yes, of course. I was simply trying to gauge how long of a process it is from job application to training. If there happened to be a huge backlog, I'd apply early. If not, I'll wait. Thanks though. I was hired as a Direct Entry Captain so that changes things a bit. But to give you an idea of a time...

Re: Porter Airlines - when to apply?
I’m pretty sure they haven’t even gotten half of their current order for the E2s. We have 29 delivered out of 75 firm orders. So we're barely a third of the way through the firm orders and barely a quarter of the way if you include the 25 additional options. Which everyone says is simply a formality.
