Re: Future AME Discouraged
The people that are saying negative things here to any newbie coming into this industry are just speaking from their experience, as the same thing goes for the positive people on this thread. The question is which side outweighs the other. I think the people that are happy with their job are far les...

Welllll don't quote me on this but I'd bet a dollar that Aero in YYC is doing their heavy checks. You can read into that what you will... I was at a MRO down south a few months back and seen one of their machines there on heavy check, however I dont think they do all their heavies at this particula...

Good god!!...this is probably one of the worst threads I have seen in this forum. This type of crap is why I am trying to refrain from posting on this site now. It is to hard to make your way through all the nonsense that is being put out there. You got guys here trying to tell you how it is "out t...

Re: Working overseas and the Canada Revenue Agency....
OK, if you consider OETC then thats 13% income tax you pay. If you are working overseas I would say the pay could be $100,000.00. So that would be 13000.00 you pay per year in income tax. Try this, Incorporate a company and forget the OETC. Pay yourself a good per diem, pay yourself 50,000.00 per at...

CHC has some -8's in Chad and Libia still as far as I know. Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. As for ACN, CHC still owns 40 % but has washed their hands of everything and everyone there.

My hat is off to everybody in this thread, as you are all hitting the nail on the head. I remember when I was a kid watching planes and helicopters fly overhead, if I heard one coming I would go running to watch. Always wanting to be in Aviation. The more I read here and the more I work in this indu...

I certainly agree........Unions are for the dogs. They also hold no job security, when it comes down to it. Look at Royal Maintenance C3 bought them and they were unionized. Where is their job security? Yes I know it was different circumstances but still. If you want to become a disgruntled employee...

When I had an interview a couple of years ago with another company I googled "behavioral interview" and got a load of questions off the net. Before my phone interview I had answers for most of the questions I downloaded, and believe it or not most of them were the questions I was asked. Its basicall...

Re: Going rate for an annual
Ok they "HAVE" to be ordered! If your A.M.E orders them he will have to pay for shipping, if he pays with credit card he will have to pay interest on the amount until you pay him. What percentage are you talking about 30- 40- 80%. If he is charging an extra 60 bucks on a 500 dollar muffler, your get...

Re: Compass not swinging
Does a citabria have 2 tubular supports coming down on the glareshield? I had a tripacer one time that did the exact same thing. Bought a new compass too, with no fix. Not sure what it was now as it was too long ago, but as said earlier the airframe being magnetized would certainly do it.

Re: Don't be a whore (help me respond to an email)
I think being let go only to have your job replaced by a volunteer is one thing( and your right should never happen and the employer should be have their ass kicked for taking advantage of both of the parties involved). However a person deciding to volunteer at a place to gain experience when there ...

First of all he doesnt deserve to be called a "whore". Just like you dont deserve to be called what your employees call you. Why dont you reply the same way you would when you get a resume. If you dont want to do that try this: Dear Edited, Thank you for your interest in "company X". Yes we are curr...

Bell, your exactly right. People who do do not think about the liability portion of it. I am not talking about the people who get laid off. Ok, lets put it this way..........how long did it take for you guys/gals when you got out of college to actually land a job? For me it was 3 years graduated in 1991. First job was 1994. All sides, Were you hired on as an apprentice during your grunt work for 4 years, or did they hire you as an appre...

As do I, but saying just dont do it doesnt answer the question of what this person should do. So your saying........if you cant find a job in the industry of aviation, hang in there even if it means washing planes or sweeping the floor for another 2-3 years? I think the reason for people having to r...

Well, I have to disagree, and its because of this.........( this may piss a few of you off but). I am an A.M.E too and when I got out of college this industry was at the low peak well in Atlantic Canada anyway which of course is not the best place for aviation( yes I will take the blame for that). I...
