Re: Two CRJs collide at LaGuardia
At canadian airports its always very clear where traffic is and atc will follow up with additional instructions anytime an aircraft is really even in your vicinity. ATC in canada always has very positive control and clear Verbiage/instructions for aircraft. Where in the US ground controllers are oft...

Re: AC Incident Nashville
Aircanada captains and indoc captains don't know basic IFR rules? This incident reeks of nothing short of total incompetence. At the DA insufficient visual reference, go around, there is no maybe or I feel like I maybe might possibly see it. You see the required items, or you don't see it. And the f...

Re: New YYC Sim facility with CAE
Im curious; why do some people think thata 737 can replace a Q? It seems so obvious that im confused why it's suggested so often. Even if you try replace it with a smaller jet like an embraer or A220, nothing would come close to meeting the Q's efficiency for low demand short haul markets. Unless i...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
The fact of the matter is that FAs are not minimum wage workers. Thier year one total compensation is approx 48 thousand dollars plus amillion other benefits. FAs are unskilled workers who dont carry any student debt or burden to recieve prior education. They don't want the public to actually unders...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
I think its likly they will get a small raise from the feds, but i also think if they go that route its likly they will extend the contract term by a year. Nothing is free. The government will work within the current value of the contract, if they give a raise, they will likly cut something else out...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
Locking up the leader of CUPE was never an option. The whole country would have gone on strike. I don't know why you guys believe they were afraid of that. Sounds like disinformation. I think you underestimate the power and sway the government and the company have, aswell the extreme pressure of hu...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
Why not? If it's linked to a base it might even out people's preferences. If done correctly it could be a great tool. For pilots as well. What if your toronto based, but you live in Montreal. Or Vancouver based but you live in Calgary? Should they still get a pay raise? You base it based on the bas...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
2) you can’t give column 1 FAs more money than column 2 FAs. It would be an absolute S#!+ show Why not? If it's linked to a base it might even out people's preferences. Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
I don't want anyone else to have to go through that, and the FAs certainly aren't. They are getting total compensation close to 50 thousand dollars on year one and receiving every benefit you can possibly receive. As a first job with no required education or skills. Its an amazing compensation offer.

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
He is right, medlink would be incharge of everything in that situation a FA would have zero liability, if it were serious the advice would be to administer some medicine orally, and secure the patient. Whether or not they made it would come down to how fast the pilots can divert and land and get the...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
Perdiums are not legally considered wage. But it is income, ive worked in the airlines for almost a decade now and I can EASILY cook and prepare food to take away for three days. Even for international flights, there are many prepared meals that are completely fine to take with you, and MOST interna...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
I think the new pay scales are fair, ive been told it would be a salary of 30600 a year on year 1, plus approx 15 k or more in perdiums plus additional pay benefits aswell. A year one FA would be looking at 46-48 k a year or more, for only around 12 days of work a month and thats only year one, the ...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
Yup, that's what I figured. Remember 99 percent of all these things were already agreed too before hand. The only out standing items were wages and ground pay, and 50% ground pay was already offered prior (so no big change there) and the 12 % pay increase is what i thought it would be aswell, a smal...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
My guess is they will extend the length of the agreement for atleast an additional year. Which is a huge win for the company, and in return for that maybe 3-4% increase to wages focusing most on year one pay. And they will likly get ground pay at 50%. They already offered them an 8% increase in yea...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
The only comparable AC CUPE will use, is the AC Pilots. At no point have they compared themselves to other FA's in Canada, or for that matter include the Americans. "Pay example for Flight Attendant hired in 2015: Starting wage in 2015: $25.13/hour Present wage in 2025 if Flight Attendant remains w...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
So now, after three days of the strike, finally air Canada's CEO goes on BNN to do an interview. Comes on with such bad internet quality you can bearly even hear or understand what he is saying, embarrassing. For what you can hear, its the same propaganda they have been putting out there. We want to...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
I find it incredible how during all this chaos and disruption, the leaders at Air Canada are no where to be seen or herd. I've seen many different news reporting over yesterday and today and not one with any actual representative of air Canada, they realeased a small one sentence statement and thats...
