Re: Canadian North fires boozing Dash 8 pilot

Doesn't addictions counselling have to be offered before you can fire an employee for alcohol or substance abuse? isn't it considered a "disease"?

Not defending anyone hear, Im genuinely curious. Especially CDN north pilots being in a union, I thought for sure this would be the case.

If you're going flying, no. If you're going fishing, yes. You can see the pike in the bays no problem.

Re: Flying in -FZRA

How many airplanes have a crosswind " limit " Im honoured! the old cat driver is quoting me, sorry cat... i meant to say Demonstrated cross wind limit... and I don't know how many have a demonstrated crosswind limit.. but in the AFM of the aircraft I fly, it says 22kts. Now get off these boards and...

I think I will go sit at the airport and make sure that no one exceeds their crosswind limits.....
or you could just ask nicely here and someone might tell ya what the crosswind limit is on their particular aircraft, or get scolded... its a toss up.

Seems like a fair concern, didn't seem like the OP was chastising anybody. Your reaction IMO is unwarranted. If you're gonna post a reply it may as well be of some value.

Re: FBO

The FBO frequency is handy because you can call them in the air when you are inbound to let them know that you need a quick turn with so many liters, etc. Speeds things up. And, after landing, you can call them on the ground and ask them where to park, if there is no marshaller. Just be sure you do...

Bit defensive are we? If you'll note the time between my post and expats, you will see I posted pretty much the same time and never did read his. Simple question was asked for clarity. Have a good day.

Re: Do you have to be subservient to be a working pilot toda

absolutely you have to be subservient. You could ask the pilots who crashed a brand new Global Express into a very short runway on the east coast that question. You could also ask the pilots who crashed in Poland recently, killing most of the government leaders. Im not sure what you mean by this? Ro...

Re: Left the industry/considered it/or know someone who did?

I have certainly thought about it, in fact Im currently posting from my second job that enables me to pay the mortgage. The main thing that holds me back from leaving the industry is the fact that I have invested so much for so long. I keep telling myself it's gonna get better and in a sense it is. ...

Re: Did you ever sign a training bond or buy a PPC?

Doc. Years ago, a pilot working for me was handed his ink-still-wet PPC card which had been provided for free. Within seconds, he walked out of the door to another company. An Ontario company trained pilots for free on Navajos. The average job tenure there was much less than four months before pilo...

Re: Dempster flame out?

I don't need any inside info. The facts in the public domain speak for themselves clearly enough. N-W has a number of accidents and incidents in its recent history, enough to warrant a pretty serious look from Transport. Maybe they find out that that company is totally blameless. Fine by me. Happy ...
