I wonder how much money they'll make on 3x daily YCG (8,000 population) to YYC (1,360,000) flights when they can't make money on 5x YYZ (5,928,000) to YUL (1,780,000).

Re: YCG

Do you think any plan to add YYC-YCG in the future? You're more likely to see Pacific Coastal on YZZ - YYC long before Encore ever goes into YCG. Pacific Coastal currently serves YZZ from YVR and has for many years. YYC -YZZ might be an interesting route for WS to try using Link. I think Pacific Co...

Re: WestJet Announcement.

Slightly off topic - any thoughts on what new routes Encore would start flying out west?
Expanding presence suggests servicing additional airports or just more routes?

Looks like the (one) out west periodically flies to YPR.
I don't see it on any other schedules.

Can someone confirm that the -300's are all gone ?
I still see some random ones on the November AC schedule.

CRJ200 to YXC

I see the CRJ is making an appearance at YXC. I believe this is first time a regional operator has run a jet to Cranbrook.
Does anyone know if this is temporary?

Flights are operating with very decent loads.
Any plan to increase frequency this summer? It looks like most other bases in BC are going to at least daily in August.

Re: Q400 and YCG

Incidentally, CMA has just announced that they are pulling out of YCG after July 5th. They stated it would not be economical for two airlines to serve the route.

Re: Q400 and YCG

The City of Castlegar is working behind the scenes to get RNP approach and departure procedures approved. Any comment from a pilots perspective? If they are successful in bringing the ceiling limits below 2000' AGL it will make a huge difference. The West Kootenay are booming with new people, I susp...

Westprop to YCG?

Lots of talk in the press lately that Westjet is considering this destination for their regional.
What are the chances of this acutally happening? The Q400 seems a bit large for this route, especially considering Jazz and Pasco already serve the area.

Thoughts?

Re: Castlegar CYCG

The limits into Castlegar 5 years ago for Jazz were 2500 under an Op Spec approach. Nav Canada decommissioned a beacon (cant recall which one) and revoked the Op Spec.. limits since then have been 2900 for the RNAV approach. Recently they have been raised again to 3400 -- I'm not sure the reason for...

Re: Pasco Selling 340's?

Thanks for the info. Still seems strange that they are selling them after only just buying them recently. I wondered if they weren't performing up to expectations? Or perhap, more likely just a sign of the times. Considering their expansion plans to Terrace, Kamloops and Penticton didnt work out I g...

Pasco Selling 340's?

It appears five of Pasco's Saab's are up for sale. Considering they just bough them a couple years ago, does anyone know the reason for selling? Are they that unhappy with them? Also curious why they would keep a small fleet of two (YVR-YYJ runs maybe?). Are they going to purchase more beeches or an...

Just fly into the no-fly zone anyway.... what are they going to do, shoot you down over a highly populated area and kill a bunch of people on the ground?

Re: Pasco pulling out of YYF?

I guess my point is that considering that they are th esole operator to Calgary from YYF, they couldnt fill a 19 seat plane economically??

I wonder how the other routes are doing? Given the major cutbacks at the Trail smelter, CAD4 could be next?

If true, I am surprised they weren't able to make this route work.

Pacific Coastal pulls out of YXT

According to the press release passenger numbers never materialized and the route lost money. I wonder where they will re-deploy the 340 that was dedicated to this route?

I wonder how much the recent surge in fuel prices played into this decision?

777-300ER YVR-SYD

Does anyone know if there is typically a weight restriction on this route using this equipment? I've heard AC is blocking seats until W&B numbers are finalized just prior to departure.

wasnt YYT serviced by Astraeus last summer as well as AC? I believe Astraeus has since dropped the route due to it being very unprofitable. I also remember around the same time, the St. Johns mayor telling the citizens of St. John's to boycott Air Canada whenever possible. Now he is complaining abou...
