Medical Processing Fee
I cant seem to find info on this. I have a new type rating and I haven't seen an invoice for a medical processing fee invoice for a long time. My last type rating, they wanted my money before I got the sticker. So I paid them and got the sticker. I can log in to the invoice website for Transport, bu...

Recommended reading Turboprop to Jets
Good day,
Can anyone recommend any reading material for transitioning from a turboprop to jets? I seem to remember a book "flying jets" or something similar in the past but I haven't had any luck finding anything so far. Thought I would ask here.
Thank you!

I've been following the WHO data that comes with the daily situation reports. These are the figures i get. I'm not a professional in any way. I trust the WHO. I hope the numbers are truly accurately represented by the WHO.
I also find data here as well.

Re: Buffalo DC-3 Hay River
I can’t remember what it said in that revised manual from the 80s, but often wondered if it was based on the old 100/130 avgas as well. Was it copy and paste charts from the old manuals? I think I have some old random military DC-3 /C-47 manual somewhere.

Re: Buffalo DC-3 Hay River
Last time I looked, at takeoff, #1 engine failed, windmilling, gear down with full power on #2, climb rate was 50fpm at gross weight at ISA. #1 feathered and gear up was 250fpm with same weight and ISA. That was a while ago though. Charts in the aircraft manual. It’s not much, but gets you climbing....

US/Canada border crossing and meal planning
Hello there, I was wondering if anyone has any tips or helpful information for meal planning for multi-day pairings when crossing borders and going through customs etc. It would be appreciated! I just don’t want to end up throwing stuff out. I understand there is a list of things you can’t take and ...

Re: Local weather phenomenon? Question!
Thanks! All understood. Yeah, new IFR pilots are expected to know everything about an airplane and IFR. It's nice to have a mentor step in and guide them and show them the rope and teach them all that is correct in the world right?

Local weather phenomenon? Question!
With 1/2 mile departure mins can an a/c leave with this weather? With that remark at 1420? From what I understand the reported ground vis has to be at or above the minimum, regardless of RVR. Is that 1/2 to 1/4sm a "local phenomenon" Seems the smoke was around for a few hours.... Flight aware tells ...

Re: First Air cancelling flights, fuel shortage or $$$ short
The understanding I have of the situation is that 7F and 5T use Esso as their fuel supplier, and get a contract rate for the gas. Esso ran out of gas, Shell still had gas. Shell would not sell the Jet A to either 5T or 7F at the contract rate, and told them if they wanted fuel they'd have to pay fu...

Re: First Air cancelling flights, fuel shortage or $$$ short
As an addition, does 7F use Shell or Esso? Do they have a different tank system between providers? Example: If 7F used Shell out of YZF and they were unable to get fuel due to the reason of fuel not available (trucks broke down, drivers quit, too busy, only one truck, fuel not available, etc.) would...

Re: First Air cancelling flights, fuel shortage or $$$ short
Anyone know how to look at NOTAMs from the last couple of days? Curious to see what YZF, YRT and YFB were saying during this 'fuel shortage'. It's so funny how rumours are started, I heard lots of them about 5T and didn't believe any of it unless it was coming from the horses mouth. Donald, do you h...

I've heard through the grape vine from people who know him that the whole episode where Joe exploded on him was pure fiction and purely for our entertainment. Apparently Joe was quite happy for him that he was moving on. So to have spent 6 years at Buffalo working hard and deserving a C-46 ticket, ...

Re: Ice Pilots Season 5 discussion...
Joe would lose his crap if the engineers were working on an airplane and had to button it up, put it outside, let it freeze, put in the other airplane over night, then take it out in the morning, and let the engineers work on a frozen airplane, in which case they won't for a few hours at least becau...

Net Take-off flight path and Enroute Limitations with One Engine Inoperative as per TC CARS 705 Ops 705.57, 705.58 I think that section covers whatever TC is concerned with. As far as SMS, I'm not sure... There is other good info in the same section. http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/regserv/car...

Re: DC-3 "Crash" Yellowknife
You're welcome! I would agree also that these numbers would reflect a new machine, and 100% engines to boot! Not overhauled engines. However; I'm not a professional at maintenance, but does a decent overhaul mean pretty much a new engine? I flew one for about 15 miles at 400', takeoff RPM, 43" MP (5...

Re: DC-3 "Crash" Yellowknife
I can't remember myself if the performance charts in the DC-3 manual are for engines running 100LL or 100/130. I would assume that when they converted over to avgas this would have been a major consideration for performance? I will have to dig through my paper to find out. At METO power, "The rate o...

Also went from flying two crew 12,500lbs+ to flying solo in a small multi engine airplane even the same day. GUMPS checks entering the zone and short final in a possible absence of a checklist helps. Gas Undercarriage Mixtures Props Switches. I'm sure there are other versions out there.

Pilot License Number Meaning
Hello there,
This topic has probably been discussed before but I seem to not be able to find the answer doing a search in the forums.
How are license numbers derived and do they have any certain meaning? Like a 2 or 4 or 5 at the beginning, etc.
Thx!!
