Now I'm not a lawyer and not one of Montague's team, just a supporter. I think the issue is not a right to bear firearms so much as a right to private property which is being threatened by Bill C-68. The threat to the right to private property is the confiscation phase of the bill. The Liberals are ...

For those who have heard enough of the crowd that compares gun registration to automobile registration, let's follow up on that comparison. Let's say that guns and autos are comparable and so let's apply gun standards to car standards. First off, all cars will be restricted to 6 cylinders or less, n...

Anyone just tuning in, the topic of this forum is: Some people want to keep their guns, and others want to take them away. A side issue, Liberanos want to piss our taxpayer dollars away. Some of us would like to use it for something besides buying a bunch of computers, hiring a lot of keypunch opera...

Rockie is correct. It's politics, a fact of life. But voters can change that. With power comes responsibility. Or does might make right? Don't get led around by the nose by a party that you can't even trust with our tax dollars. The Liberanos are counting on paranoia to get them back into power. Som...

You can tell the city bound, city oriented, city stuck in the frame of mind of some of these contributors. Some of these city slickers look around at all the apartments and stores and gas stations within a mile of their residences. Then they say to themselves, "who needs a gun around here"? That lit...

Just saying, LH, that the government doesn't have the manpower to seize all the weapons. But it does have enough manpower to annoy a few of us, as they did with Montague. And what guns are legal now could be illegal tomorrow, or just after an election. If you think compensation is not so bad, consid...

Canada does not have the manpower to enforce such an idea even if they combined the manpower of all the police forces and the Canadian Armed Forces. Well said LH, but they do have enough manpower to confiscate my guns and yours and a few hundred others. You could say, someone else's obituary is just...

We seem to be so naive that we think gun registration is just that, registration. But if you open your eyes, you'll see it also means seizure of your property. If you miss a deadline in registering your previously legal property it is forfeited, gone forever. Why was it ok a day ago and now contraba...

Going back to the start of this thread: I thought 200hrWonder was making sense until I came upon the statement that "I think that protection is not a reason for owning a gun". I think that foremost around these parts is that protection is the main reason for owning a gun. 200hrwonder must be a city ...

I think I just figured out what SOCS means. But that's a wild guess. Back to the task at hand. The Conservatives can't dump the gun registry because the NDP (used to be my party) and the Bloc and the Liberanos will stop that dead. One hope might be Montague convincing the Supreme Court to declare it...

When you're sick of all the whining, who's gonna take away the outlaw guns? So you got mine, they were registered. Remember the part about a registered gun owner coming to the aid of a police officer in trouble. Well now you have criminals coming to the aid of other criminals in trouble. No need to ...

I just received my PAL renewal form in the mail from RCMP, Miramichi,NB It's 4 pages long and let me quote from them: Page 1, You must hold a valid firearms licence to possess and/or acquire firearms or purchase ammunition. A DELAY IN RENEWING YOUR FIREARMS LICENCE PRIOR TO THE EXPIRY OF YOUR EXISTI...

Some people say firearms should be registered because automobiles are registered.
Some people are exempt from registering their firearms, why not exempt from registering their automobiles?
If all automobiles require registering, why not all firearms?
Just wondering. I guess logic doesn't apply here.

Gotta simplify this registry thing: The government can't control what it can't find. It can't find most of the illegal guns because they're not registered. Why would criminals register their guns so they can be found. Injuns kill each other with long guns. They don't register them because of the Abo...

On Dec. 6, 1989, a lunatic took a rifle into a Montreal school and brutally murdered 14 young women and wounded an additional 13. With the battle cry of "Never Again!" the government-of-the-day introduced Bill C-68, Canada's Firearms Act, and passed it into law in 1995. On Sept. 13, 2006, another lu...

An estimated 90% of firearms owners in Canada are in violation of the Firearms Act regulations due to ignorance, negligence, or civil disobedience. If the police did a raid on your house today, you would likely be charged with one or more criminal offenses under the Firearms Act. An anonymous "firea...

I just happened to drop in on this interesting thread. "just a mugging", what the @#$! is just a mugging? I suppose the Mafia would call it just a mugging, I would call it assault. How would you like to be just mugged? Some people having undergone just a mugging have had just a funeral and have been...
