Re: QOL in Cargojet besides poor pay
I agree with the poster above. I've never flown with a with a former Cargojet pilot who had anything good to say about the company. That being said I think it would be a much better stepping stone than bouncing around in a 1900.

A signature doesn't need to be a legible facsimile of your name. Everyone should sign it with and X. It definitely won't be getting my typical signature.

Re: US Air Travel Down, Overall Air Travel Up.
Fully electrified, no. Probably never. Natural gas peaker plants have a place in electrical generation. It's gonna be a long time, if ever, that we see electric long haul aircraft. 777 and A350s will be burning kerosene for a while. We used to have coal fired steel plants. They're largely electric ...

Re: BA versus YYZ controllers
Its seems like we entered the conversation at little late. SpeedBird reads back "cleared ILS" right at the beginning suggesting they were cleared the approach. But we don't actually hear the clearance. Was the beginning of the conversation cut off to stir controversy? I would take 170 to Savos and c...

I'm generally laid back. But a 2000 fpm VS climb to the yellow band will elicit a comment from pretty much any captain.

True Story
So we are climbing out through 200 with the FO flying. I pull out the journey log and start on it when he decides he needs to go into a 2000 fpm vertical speed climb to top a build up. This certainly gets my attention so I put the journey log away to watch a little closer. Eventually we get going as...

Re: Hiring Again?
Someone in the low end of management told me 120 pilots in 2026. That seems inline with the new tails that are supposed to be coming. Management never said 400 pilots and I've never heard of a pilot saying Westjet was overstaffed.

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
You can discuss that in another topic if you like. But nothing you wrote would make it economically unfeasible for AC to pay a bonus to FAs living in certain bases. It's a choice made by the company and/or the union. Paying people more for jobs based in expensive cities is neither farfetched nor co...

If you don't like Westjet, don't go there. I just find someone who makes up a new account just to constantly whine about them funny.

Judging by your posts, WestJet sure has made you bitter. Why don't you just go to Air Canada to help the tears?flieslikeachicken wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 10:06 am It is absolutely possible to allow AR pilots into Encore; merge the companies.
The problems that WestJet has are caused by their desire to spend a dollar to save a penny.

It's really interesting to see the types of personalities come to light on this thread. It reveals those that are not only repugnantly selfish and entitled, but the same people who lack critical thought and the empathic, humanistic sense of self to comprehend that they may also be in that situation...
Re: Return...
Does anyone know someone who has returned to WestJet after leaving and working at a different Canadian airline? If you're considering going but are afraid of making the wrong choice, know that unless you want to live in Calgary, your best long term and short term solution is leaving now. It's going...

They can’t. Poor PP. Cant say Trudeau Bad any more and first thing Carney is going to do is cut the Carbon Tax so there goes the slogan stored in his other brain cell. Anything else is the same as the Liberals. Tax and spend. Borrow and spend. Make a bunch of promises and never keep them. Pander to...

Re: 737 - anyone ever use the N1 and Speed buttons on the MCP panel?
I use the speed button all the time going into SXM. MAP is a couple miles back so the flight directors are cycled it so doesn't start giving missed approach guidance. It goes into ARM. Some guys are ok with ARM but I prefer to reselect speed.
