Re: AME Conference

Mostly surprised by two aspects actually, First, the Westjet group was specifically invited to participate in the regional association a couple of years ago, and after the conference all we got was radio silence. Second, looking at the agenda for their upcoming event, it's almost exclusively technic...

Re: Legality/Liability of freelance work on GA aircraft

^ yes, corporations should have insurance. However, I have no legal need for insurance and would not even consider it to sign out a friends a/c. Being in the insurance industry you should know that even with good insurance you can still be hung out to dry. Also, your industry runs on fear mongering...

https://www.canlii.org/en/ This is the record of all court decisions in Canada. If you search you can find several examples of court decisions. Keep in mind these are only the cases that went to court, there are multiple others that are settled and never made it into the courtroom. Many responses pr...

Re: AME'S that have been sued

Please note the single most important item that insurance pays for is your Defence!.

The cases of an AME being found liable for damages are pretty rare, defending against a legal action can be very costly.

Innocent or guilty = lawyer gets paid!!

Make sure you are covered.

National AME Association

Would you support a new National AME association that in brief would be a professional organization representing all AME in Canada, further could also be a union for non-union AME's. Much along the lines of the UK ALEA (http://www.alae.org/) Also further reading from AEI (http://www.airengineers.org...

Western AME Association Website - News

The Western AME Association Website (http://www.wamea.com/) just posted a couple of discussion papers on the Role of AME Associations and the formation of a National AME association.

Interesting reading, I encourage everyone to give it a read.

Re: AME Associations

CID, no flak, we do work/try hard, but your are absolutely correct, APATHY is the trend and incredibly difficult to overcome. The current discussions (and my goal) is to move towards amalgamating regions, hopefully with the ultimate goal of a single association. This NEEDS to happen before any real ...

Re: AME Associations

Exactly what needs to be said! To all, I apologize in advance for the long post but those who know me know that it is unavoidable. The fundamental issue with the regional AME associations and CFAMEA is that they collectively represent approximately 880 members. There are approximately 15,000 AME lic...

The sole arbitrator of safety when an aircraft is on the ground: someone should be reporting defects to the AME, therefor the pilot has some responsibility there, if the AME doesn't know about the snag they can't fix it The CAR's clearly state: ANYONE who finds a defect shall report it ....., it is...

What are the benefits of joining ? Exactly the reason for this post...looking for answers. What are the benefits that AME's need/want from an association? Lets look at what is and has been offered: Symposium tradeshow, most exhibitors cater to selling stuff to AMO's, not individual AME's. Symposium...

May I suggest that an AME shortage is not a problem if either myself (a AME) nor the AME association. A shortage of qualified personnel is an issue of the employers and other associations. Not to say that the AME associations should not be in support of initiatives and progams that encourage new peo...

For what its worth, i was involved in evaluating various program for a company and I thought the 2 best programs were AMS (Canada) and AMOS (Swiss).
