Re: Canadian Air Force
With the civilian world …snip…. someone starting today. Your career, (civilian or military), will have ups, downs, good points and bad points, but ultimately is what you make it. A career in military aviation will involve doing a lot of waiting and a lot of things that aren’t flying. This is explai...

Re: Devastating
Could you guys just take a break, for even a couple of days? I'm just... wow. I've got multiple relatives whom are evacuated, at least one who's lost everything and another may have lost everything; and the rest wondering if they'll have a home or community to go back to when this ends. So yes, I h...

Re: Camp Picton Airbase for sale
Lots of good memories from hanging around the flying club, planes and airport. My dad was Manager and CFI at the Prince Edward Flying Club (PEFC) and Quinte Airways from its inception (1952ish) until he retired from flying in 1974. Hangin at that airport led to my 33 year military and civilian flyin...

Re: How to build an aircraft hangar
I'd like to build a hangar on a rural property. Thinking of about 100' x 50'. Does anyone have any suggestions for building methods or contractors? GTA, if it makes any difference. Have you talked to Dave C, retired OPP ? He has his plane and 3 enclosed hangars he built on his strip near Napanee.

Got my start in Aviation hanging around the clubhouse in Picton, Ont at the Prince Edward Flying Club. (PEFC) From the late 50`s until I joined the CF/RCAF in 69, every free minute was at the airport. Odd jobs at the club or cleaning members planes....did it all in exchange for flight time! Lots of...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
Aaaahhhhh... Grasshoppers... Let's put it this way: is there anybody here who would NOT fly the Tutor in it's present configuration given that it would be at no cost to you: Checkout, maintenance, fuel, everything paid for. All you have to due is get current and fly. I'd be first in line; formation...

What do the VFR/IFR pubs say? Google maps shows a lot of runway despite the displaced threshold on 33. I`ve seen exec jets parked there when driving by. Give them a call.

Re: Snowbird 5 Ejected in Atlanta
In my opinion the snow birds are out dated and the equipement is boring and outdated as well. Either shut them down or update them. They seem to have taken on this mystical Canadian thing like Tim Hortons. How many social media generation people actually know who Tim Horton was. A successful ejecti...

Re: WOW Air collapses
Some hotels require a credit card for incidentals (room service, movies & internet access) and some don't. Depends on the contract with the hotel. You should never provide a credit card to hotels for incidentals on layover. When C3 and Royal went down, and crews were stranded for several days befor...

Re: What was your longest non stop flight?
C- 130...planned Dakar, Senegal to CYTR....around 14 hrs. Our planned 290kt G/S was as low as 160 kts. W/V a bit more than fcst + 100 nm track deviations due to severe wx along the ITCZ. Ended up min fuel into CYHZ after 14+ hrs.
