Squadron Daily Diaries shows Canso 9752 flying on May 19, 20 and 22, 1944 but not on the 21st.
All flights were with different crews so if the date is correct, the individuals in the photo would be hard to identify.
Maybe posing with "Shady Lady" that day because she was available at the time.

IDS was involved in a mid-air collision with Canso HTN over a forest fire on Sept 1, 1971 north of Fort Smith NWT.
Both aircraft were destroyed.

This probably isn 't going to help you, but it's ripping along just fine in Victoria at 18:00 local. Have had some slow down in the past few days (15 second loads - Shaw high speed).

Scoping some earlier DOT Aircraft Registries on CF-JHE :
1964 & 1968 - registered to PWA
1969 - registered to Trans Provincial Airlines....... Serial # on all of these is 15R
1973 to 1984 - not found on any registry

If you get a chance to hop the ferry over to Victoria, the British Columbia Aviation Museum is located at the Victoria airport.
Not far from the ferry terminal on that side.
