Re: Tumbler Ridge IFR Approach?

I was going to say it must be an RCAP, but I just looked and there is no RCAP. If there is no cap then you are out of luck.

Re: I need help, again.

A 1900D would work. Without looking at numbers I would say one fuel stop each way. Another option is Jazz, charter a Dash 8. If they don't have one, the other option is to bring one in from Calgary. Lots of lift available on the weekends in Calgary. Both 1900's and Dash 8.

Re: LLoydminster

What type of fuel you after? Jet? You can do self serve jet after hours or contact them and he will come out. If you ask nice the FSS guy will usual put a call into him and he will meet you. Now 100LL I can't say for sure how that works.

Re: Weight and Balance... This is an option?

[quote="mag check"]I would tend to think that any operation using standard passenger weights for loading would be over gross if they are taking off at gross on paper. Unless everything is weighed before loading (which it isn't), or you have load cells on your landing gear, it would be almost impossi...

Re: New License Update

Is this really like the fifth thread complaining about this! It takes one hour of your time and costs ten bucks for the photo, and maybe if your lucky your company will cover that. you drop it off, it shows up. It is one of the new rules, don't like the rules don't play the game, or position yoursel...

Are we still whining about this. It was easy, and only cost $6.99 for the photo. IF you don't like the rules, join TC and do something about it.

Maybe the course should be offered to all the old crusty guys in the left seat that make a 3 day pairing almost unbearable, rather than enjoyable and a great learning experience.
Ps:I am not saying all old captains are crusty, infact the old guys often offer some of the best flying days!

Re: Sanders Geophysics (SGL)

They are a good company to work for. Good maintenance, people, and great opportunity to see the world. I believe they work two months on and one off. All survey work is low level. (Caravan is not a machine for survey above FL180) IFR is required for the ferry flights, and for times when a sand storm...

Re: Starting a PT6 with bleeds open?

Well, this is what I was told to do. But the reason was that as different turbines are more efficient at different speeds, it released some of the back pressure, and made for an easier start. I guess it kind of helped the bleed valve out. Never tried to start it with the bleeds off to compare.

Re: End of the 208B

OK, after watching the Caravan bashing on this board for a couple years, here is my opinion. Follow the AFM. Respect the weight that cessna publishes for flight into known icing. Like all airplanes, stay out of moderate icing, freezing rain (nothing is certified for freezing rain) Take off only when...

Re: Revelstoke, BC

I have been into Revelstoke many times, some Vfr, A couple times using the RCAP approach, and then if the weather is down I find it is better to Do an ILS in to Cranbrook or the RNAV into Fairmont and run up the valley. This is my preference as it will almost always get you in lower than the RCAP fo...
