Re: Misfueling close call

Airports frequently visited by helicopters and aircraft with turbine conversions are danger spots. Turbo otters, beavers, etc. all have the standard avgas fuel openings, and don't fit the Jet A duck bill nozzles. Perhaps that should be part of the conversions, being a pain in the arse for a few con...

Since it looks like it’s out of the NRC I’d guess that button puts a tag of some sort on data that’s being recorded.
That's exactly what it is for.

Bottom line......as a ground crew, be slightly paranoid.
ALWAYS! If I see the head down- I don't approach. Simple as that. I've had a pilot tell me to pull the chocks, head went down, aircraft started to come forward (engines running).

Re: Looking for some information Baie Comeau

Thanks folks. Luckily for me I'm bilingual so communication isn't going to be an issue :-)
Sept-Isles is unfortunately past where we need to be. We'll be doing some local work in the Baie Comeau area. If the weather turns to crap though and I need to get the plane in a barn, we'll keep that in mind.

Looking for some information Baie Comeau

Hey Folks, I'm looking for some information about the Baie Comeau airport. Most specifically if there's hangar space there. We're headed up next weekend with the Twin Otter, and I'm trying to do some planning. I'm not looking to get into the hangar if I don't have to, but if shyte weather pops up- o...

kills your joints; knee's are aching.. Very long hours: work-life can be difficult and can't say I am enjoying all the small crawl-spaces. Same in Aircraft maintenance. Add to your list potential for lots of night shifts, working out in the cold/hot/rain. working on a huge Boeing, getting into and ...

He didn't. The aircraft is owned by Mike Potter and run by Vintage Wings of Canada. Rough estimate on what the thing is worth: Probably about 3 million.

It just further propagates the notion flying is more and more like a bus and less and less a privileged service.

I've worked with Chris, he's a great guy. Humble, easy to just shoot the S@#t with. Hand him a rag and he has no problem helping wiping down the aircraft. Real class act.

I started out at 10.50 an hour, took 5 years and 2 other jobs for me to get 15.00. For the longest time as a licensed AME with several signing authorities I was making 24.00 an hour.

For me, 2012 was their last good show, and not because that was the last one I worked. Most of the fighters were flying, there were a fair amount of visiting acts, and the crowds were huge.

Re: First big airshow of the season Apr 30

I was thinking of making an appearance for the Gatineau show (haven't been to one since 2012), but now not so much. With a relatively short list of performing aircraft, most of which I've seen fly many times, the french team were the only draw. They've been hyped up so much I was expecting something...

Good to know. I got to see the Italians when I was a kid and they put on a pretty good show. I enjoy the show the Blues put-on.
