I would assume any body of water that is not in a built-up area can be used (of course, given proper length and whatever). I'd think in built-up areas, the only place to land would be a waterdrome.

/me waits for someone else to answer.

AFAIK the government wont pay for it, because once you get it, you're useless to them. Although I have heard (from reputable source) that CAF medical has approved the recruiting of new pilots who wear glasses only (I dont think you're allowed contacts) to correct a minor problem (such as myopia). Th...

Dont worry, just take them in your GA aircraft and fly them yourself. They wont need ID and they can bring all the explosives they want to blow up whatever you want.

Oh how I love how ridiculously retarded GA security is at airports....

Actually, the complexity between cost, and required equipment (ie: I cant just jerry-rig something) scared me away a heck of a lot more than the risks. I do have a fair bit of slow flight experience (about 70mph or so) so I feel comfortable operating "low and slow", but its just not worth it for wha...

Engine plugs are definitely the best way to go. If there's a hole in the airframe, there should be a plug. Some of the aircraft on the airfield have plastic owls on the prop. Mostly to keep birds from using the fin as a toilet. I just an owl for my plane and we'll see how that goes. My tail is red b...

Im definitely looking into becoming a Young Eagles pilot in the (very) near future. I sure would rather get more time on type first, as well as get this first annual out of the way. But rest assured, I'll have the registration forms displayed in the clubhouse.

Thanks for the info Hedley. Unfortunately... It sounds like a lot more trouble than it's worth for a one-time thing. I presume the STC'ed hook isnt available for all aircraft models too huh. (thinking Grumman Yankee)

Flying a banner

Just a quicky here for you guys. Im thinking of flying a banner trailing my GA airplane. I dont know anyone who's ever done so, and google seems to find more links to hire the service than it does to give me useful links. What are the regulations in terms of towing a banner, and what equipment do I ...

Agree with Stinky here. Personally, I want to see the prices rise higher and higher. It'll teach people not to idle for 10 minutes in the Tim Hortons' drive thru lane (whom then complain about it, but only buy 500ml bottled water at $1.44 wtf!). Higher prices will teach the general public to sell th...

sometimes IFR guys are coming into bum-fart airport not expecting some lowly 150 to be doing circuts... On top of all the rest of the issues in aviation do we now have class distinction to deal with? Why is a 150 any less important than some IFR airplane? Hell the guy flying the 150 might be a Air ...

cruisecontrol... I know we're in the 21st century, but all aircraft do have a compass. Last I checked anyways *shrugs* I dont really need those other fancy navaids. When Im on a cross-country, I do become familiar with the area I fly in, but most of my flying at this point is either in terminal airs...

well you are supposed to know evrything pertaining to your flight right? which means, even if you dont know the area, you're going to look at your VNC to have a look at your route, right? Navaids are on the VNC so you should no about them....... So... JUST because its there... we should all know ab...

Sure, but if you attempt to use any radio nav on your private pilot flight test, Transport Canada edict is that you will fail.

Didnt know that. Cheers for clarifying.

Cat Driver, some people do things for the thrill. Rock climbing, flying, driving, sky diving, bungee jumping, skinny dipping, and so on. And what the hell is so hard about NAVAIDs, I could teach a monkey to use a VOR or NDB. They are simple simple, simple, they're covered during ground school and you should have been introduced to them durng the instrument portion of your license. If you don't understand them ask your instructor to ...
