Well can we all agree on the following two points?
1) Perimeter makes too many calls.
2) NAC makes way too little.

A degree is worth getting for sure...definitely worth the time/cash investment. I don't know about that particular degree though...also, Empire is an expensive school to learn at. Many other cheaper places out there that will be able to get you finished quicker. Of course, this is my opinion, and ot...

Doc is right. Just go and talk to the students, instructors, and CFI. You'll know after 10 minutes whether its a good school. A couple things to keep in mind: 1) Like Doc said, its best to learn to fly at a small airport, financially speaking. 2) When you get into your commercial training and time b...

You've got to be kidding me! If you think that you are getting a rough deal by having to move from Mum and Dad's to one of those places, give your head a shake....How about Pickle, or Armstrong, Ignace, Buffalo Narrows, Gillam etc... Thanks for the reply. I understand preferential routing, but didn't think that was the case. I guess it must just be a coincidence after all. :?

Avoiding US Airspace

I've noticed recently (and perhaps this has happened for a long time) that some flights quite clearly take IFR routes that avoid USA airspace. For example, take a look at http://flightaware.com/live/flight/WJA720 Obviously there is a more direct route than the one taken, as is the case in many other...

Zero flap landings...

Recently, I've heard of a couple flight schools teaching their students to always do landings with minimal flap settings (either 10 degrees, or none at all  ) Is this more common than I realize? What is the reasoning?

I would recommend you stay away from anywhere that won't respond to your emails. Also, when evaluating costs, don't focus on the final grand total given on each individual school's website. The costs will be based on different numbers at each school. For example, some may base the costs on 50 hours ...

My favourite part is: "A trio of airlines, including Air Canada, participated in a job fair for pilots Wednesday night in St. Andrews and they were hoping to pick up as many new recruits as possible." Air Canada was at Harv's hoping to pick up as many new recruits as possible? Or Harv's had Air Cana...

I know the old saying "Go north, young man" has typically been the advise given to new graduates in the past, and a lot of young guys have gone up north to start their career, however... everytime I'm up north and see typical bush operations, most of the pilots seem to be older, rather than looking ...

My advice is to not get too cozy with the Garmin 1000s and the shiny new Diamond twins, as you'll be in for quite the shock during the first 5-10 years of your career.
