Re: Conair
Or....you get hired and see for yourself. Crazy I know! If anyone is looking to leave their current situation then why not take 4 month and give Conair a try and if it's not for you then you are ahead on pay(assuming you currently make less than $15k/month which is base year 1 pay) and on to your ne...

Flap is everything as evident by how the wing looks extended versus without. As for icing conditions, when you decide it's time to bail follow these steps before the turn: Separator closed, max power and some flap. Once you're pointed down hill heading the right way you can reconfigure(separator fir...

Re: MNR King Air
They were doomed the day Ford was elected. He refused to fly on them as it had the appearance of excess and Gov fiscal irresponsibility. As many governments have long since ditched corporate flight departments, he may have been on to something. Whenever I hear pilots speak about how little they work...

Re: Campbell river king air job
Employers don't pay what they want to pay, they pay what they have to pay. There is motivation to pay employees more if you are mid government contract and the looming reality of being in breach keeps you awake at night. Better a haircut than going bald.

Re: Conair
Not all, clearly, pilots want to do 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off for 6-8 months. If this were the case then the free market/free will would not allow a company outside of rotation to exist where in the case of Conair, and many other companies, they not only exist but thrive. There are less than 100 pi...

Re: Conair adds 11 Dash 8-400's
I will try answer a few of those questions keeping in mimd it is second hand info but from someone who knows most. Takes about 90 days for Conair to convert from flying pax to dropping retardant. Conair never proposed the DH8(300). Q400s have been converted since mid 2000s with France adding 4 new t...

Re: What's your $day$ rate?
Didn't take long for this, like all, thread to get hijacked. He/she asked a simple question and obviously for their need the position or operator is irrelevant or they would have asked. I don't know why I bother.
PS I work about 140 days/year and pull down $140k give or take. So $1000/day.

Re: Piper PA 31 operating costs
Here is a rough guide I heard ages ago and seems to hold water. $1/horsepower. Again, that was some 20 years ago and a rough guide but if you tack on inflation of 2%/yr and call it $1.25/hr direct operating cost. PA31-350 being 700HP then about $850/hr? Seems right.

Was always a dream of mine to fly with them. But after a co worker went there last summer and then opted out and hearing some more info from another fella as well. Don’t think I’ll be applying. May want to reconsider your source for decision making. 90 pilots of which 1/4 have been there longer tha...

Base pay $60-130k/116 days of service or $500-1100/day. Hourly($50-100), vacation, RRSP match etc on top. A few 100 day contracts but mostly 130 day with some RJ pilots working 260+ days.

Soooooooo to start with: "Starting pay actually went down a couple years ago..." Not even close to true. At very worst one only gets the cost of living escalator. State your source. "...the pre-diem structure changed for the worse." It's per-diem first off. Again not at all true. Source? "There's al...

Re: $90k or higher.
"Wow Conair recruiting in October. Really a sign of the times." Contract expansion assures the need for more pilots in 2020 as opposed to some years where only attrition(low -none) accounts for pilot hiring. Regarding the OP. First year pilots are likely to make around $70k for 116 days of work(130 ...

You're new here so forgiven. Not for asking a question or two but for not anticipating the helpful responses cough cough. As you can read the rule is if you don't know the answer, pretend you do. Anyhow. Here is what you are asking for I think. AirSpray, ConAIr and Buffalo are privately owned as is ...

Here is her response to my query: Thanks for your email. We published the story because a member of the public came forward and felt unsafe. Regardless of how common an occurrence is, we believed it was worthy of publication due to the man's perspective. I contacted the airport, TSB and WestJet, two...

I can't seem to find the supporting article now but I believe, during the last Fed election, it stated that 70% of those eligible for a DB pension in Canada were Government employees. Municipal, Provincial or Federal. Sheesh!
