Re: TA
I’m not with AC, I’m with Jazz. In regards to “reading between the lines” with this TA, I’d like to share an excerpt from a communication we received post ratification of our last MOS: “Usually, a successful ratification is met with satisfaction and optimism. I must say that I personally have never ...

Re: Toronto base wins the PRIZE!
Maybe it’s time for your union to institute that 50% of all VO earned gets sent to the union. That’ll put a stop to it. AC pilots are in a position to make a real difference in wages, time for everyone to halt this overtime. Your only hurting yourselves.

Re: New hire bids
For the PMA, AC is behind hiring, for 2022 what 300 pilots from Jazz? For 2023 they are supposed to add those 300 pilots to this years “quota”. AC will not hit those numbers. AC will reduce hiring from Jazz this summer which will put them further behind. You need to stay at Jazz for 2 years before y...

Re: New hire bids
Flow from Jazz to AC directly. Yes. I’m aware of what “the flow” is. I’m telling you it’s not happening at the “rate” it’s supposed to be. So I’m calling it a trickle. If getting to AC is your goal, you may be better off at any other 705 operator. If you work at JAZZ for 2 years minimum you directl...

Re: New hire bids
Can some of you please explain WHY you are applying to Jazz? I really don’t understand it. Sinking ship with many other places to go that pay more money. And please, PLEASE don’t say for the flow.

Re: Negotiations
Well I am a firm believer that the PMA was the brainchild of AC. They could foresee the pilot shortage and tried to get ahead of it by this PMA. So there is value in it for AC. Now it’s just a matter of does Jazz want to try and leverage that value with AC in the CPA

Re: Negotiations
We’re splitting hairs, AC is a party to that section and will be named in the grievance, they are signatories to that section but you are correct the grievance will be filed with Jazz. I don’t believe that the award, if any, will be directed at Jazz with them having to approach AC to pony up, as I ...

Re: Will Jazz hire 750 hour applicants OTS?
If your prospects are going to AC, you are better off going elsewhere. AC has shown consistently they slow down hiring from Express during the busy flying seasons, holidays, summer etc. whereas they will continue to hire from “OTS” during those times as well as the rest of the year.

Re: Negotiations
The 60% “flow” as it is written is a joke. It should be done away with completely. Everyone who is on the list to go to AC is essentially handicapped as far as getting to AC goes. You can only go when AC decides Jazz can afford to loose you, you can not apply “off the street”, AC can halt hiring fro...

Re: Negotiations
I think ac backed Jazz into a corner and told them that they are going to start taking pilots at a quick pace, they expect the schedule to be covered, so do what you need to do to get this done. Hence why the company is willing to sit down now. Aim high folks. COl is rising on every metric. Look to ...

Re: First kid
I am absolutely not suggesting that he not get paid less. When I had my first I was at jazz and making the same as him. We made it work. It sucks but you will find a way to keep food on the table and the lights on. When we had our second I went on the RTB. Pick up some WDO’s here and there to supple...

Re: First kid
Something to remember. You can always make more money, but you’ll never get the time back. Take a look at the contract. You can go on a RTB for up to two years from the birth. Seriously consider that. I was an FO when we had our first. You WILL find a way to make it work. Spend the time with the fam...

Re: DH4 Better do a final door check yourself
I had an incident such as this a while back, although for us it was the service door. What was determined was that the caterers are trained to close the service door from the outside. Once the caterers have come and gone, if the door is opened and closed from the inside of the cabin, the handle and ...

Re: PUSH PUSH, IN THE BUSH
I know in my experience I have felt pressure from both the company and MYSELF to go when I should have stayed put. I was in pretty similar weather conditions that would have been prelevant yesterday when we lost this pilot. I made it down to a safe landing although I did not make it to my destinatio...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing
This is sad horrible news. I also knew Nick.
I know this operator has an ops spec to be VFR in uncontrolled airspace at 300ft and 1 mile vis, this needs to be done away with. It is not conducive to safety and needs to be done away with. A caravan has no business flying around in those conditions.

Re: Wasaya caravan missing
I once had a scare in icing in the same aircraft. Learned a lot that day. Made it back but thought I was gonna have to put it down in a logging cut. Thankfully that didn't happen. Hope the pilot of this flight learns from that and keeps it with him/her for the rest of their life. You learn defiantly...
