Re: Best spot for a YYC based pilot

Air Canada. For the simple fact you will have the highest job security in Canada. And multiple fleet types. Between AC and WJ, Both are gonna have you start on reserve so QOL is a wash between the 2. The way Boeing is going, WJ growth is non existent for the foreseeable future. Great company however...

Re: E2

Porter is in a unique growth stage (while the economy is slowing) I wouldn’t say DEC jobs are gone. Several guys on the Q are slowing migrating over to AC and WJ still. The DEC opportunity is excellent at porter for anyone with experience who is looking for a left seat jet job. However with no YOS, ...

Re: AC vs Delta wages (CAD converted)

I haven't seen it done, so I've attached the table posted earlier this month where I wrote the real numbers (US converted to CAD for Delta wages). I only calculated for NB. You can see that the TA is bringing the FO wages from 60% to 160% of Delta, when the Captains are around 60% of Delta everywhe...

Re: How will you spend your ratification pay?

And a MEC attempting to muddy the waters with the drama of her resignation. Truly a horrific turn in leadership. Makes sense, and it’s not uncommon to resign after a failed TA. It’s the lessor of 2 evils where some would call upon her resignation if not voluntary. It’s a bottom up organization. Wri...

Re: How will you spend your ratification pay?

I have not noticed a lack of professionalism from the MEC in any public space. Nor have they betrayed anyone. It’s up to the voters to decide which way it goes. It’s as simple as that. If it takes another several months so be it. I see many anonymous people bashing other colleagues who are getting t...

All I read about on this TA issue is people complaining about junior pay. Does nobody care about the lack of lifestyle improvements? Training outside the block? Working 18days on a wide body? The money is there… but how about freeing up some more time off in the month.

250k vs 58k wasn't enough of a difference that it needed to become 350k vs 87k? You’re looking at it in the wrong light. A 12+yr pilot only benefits from 1 raise. A new hire will benefit from 12 years of raises and beyond. You will spend more time at year 12 than year 1. It’s that simple. Wh...

Ok, just so everyone understands, ALPA does not reward juniority. Never has, Never will. Nor will your employer. You have to earn that. The 4 years went to 2. That’s a start. You will be rewarded over the longevity of your career. It’s pretty simple. Many years ago guys had 10-15 years under their b...

Re: Should I go to Jazz?

Hi, looking for some advice. I am a 750 hour ATR FO working in northern Canada. My schedule is pretty good, I have the opportunity to work 12 days a month, can do 2 on, 2 off or a week and a week, whatever I basically want as long as it follows CARs regs. I'm building about 60-80 hours a month. I a...

It’s all part of the plan. They know exactly what they’re doing and how the shuffle affects the employees. If I had to guess , AC will continue to put metal on jazz routes going forward if they can’t keep up. It will all change again in several years. It always does.

Wow, sounds as if the westjet world is going to end. This sounds like a management problem. Key word is “manage”. This isn’t a pilot problem. I don't think it's a bad idea. If your worried about not being able to lower the rudders when you need them (which is highly unlikely this would happen) you can always use sailing techniques to control the airplane. I haven't seen this stc but It sounds like a good idea. Sometimes bags or jackets ca...

I would suggest the Confed program, it is a bush oriented program that has more to offer then most schools. During your training you'll get your 25 hrs on floats as well as a ski checkout on a 180. If you decide to further your career into airlines you'll have the required education. Many bush opera...
