Re: Underwater Cessna?

Google Earth has a feature where you can pick the date of the images as well, if you click the little clock with the year beside it you can scroll through various images. The airplane only appears on 9/27/2008. It's not there on the previous image 7/30/2006, or the subsequent one 12/30/2008.

Re: Medevac/Air Ambulance question...

It's pretty simple: The speed advantage of fixed wing is negated over short distances by the need for a land ambulance ride on each end. Probably the media sex appeal of helicopters is related to their much increased visibility (the fixed wing dudes aren't landing on highways and are generally not s...

Southern Ontario cross-country on Friday

Hi guys

I need to go to a funeral on Friday in Stratford. If you were planning on flying from Haliburton CND4 to Stratford CNM4 and back as part of your cross-country time building I would love to chip in some gas money and ride with you.

PM me.

Cheers to beers.

Shouldn't Jazz airplanes be in Air Canada colours with "operated by Jazz Air" at the door?

Yeah I think there's something in the regulations that gives the PIC authority to determine "alternate procedures" if the published procedure is not acceptable for some reason. Out here in the rocks for some reason we never get departure instructions of any type, the clearance is generally "cleared ...

Is anybody flying from Toronto to CND4 tomorrow or Saturday?

Hey I need a lift to my parents place near Stanhope. Anybody happen to be going that way (or happen to be time-building aimlessly) I can pitch $50 for gas.

Cheers.

we were after 60 million total per year in lost total compensation. They didn't even get a third of that. Aah Obbie we were explicitly not after 60 mil... Brian Shury said in every road show "we are not even trying to get back the 60 million we lost" 26 mil is more than 1/3rd of 60 anyways, but if ...

Re: Lufthansa A346 missed approach YVR...

We were on approach right after them. According to the approach controller they overshot due to windshear on 26R and asked for the longer runway for their second approach. We asked for 26L as well, and as advertised at 200' we had about a 15 knot tailwind, and the surface winds were from the west gu...

So basically we're going to cap YYC - OGG at 95 seats. Their introductory fare is $369 one way according to the press release here http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/October2009/02/c3418.html Hopefully they wouldn't sell the whole airplane at that fare because they would only have a revenue ...

Cool, thanks Valhalla! What I mean dashx is that since Jazz only provides lift to Air Canada, the only way any company is in competition with Jazz is if they are trying to provide lift to Air Canada with similar-sized aircraft. Jazz's only real competition is on trans-border routes and comes from US...

Jazz should stop licking their wounds and move on. When they had their chance they blew it. Why the hate for Jazz? Jazz has nothing to do with it except that they fly the airplane. If Air Canada tells Jazz to start a base in YTZ again, they will. For that matter, licking what wounds? Jazz wasn't mo...

Re: AC and Jazz Amend CPA

I love when people use the word "broken model" to describe Air Canada. The market took a shit kicking, Nortel (AC's biggest customer) took a dump, AC has a DB pension plan to fund, and somehow the model is broken? When Air Canada had an operating income of $433,000,000 in 2007, was the model broken ...

Somebody who doesn't care about jet time as much as quality of life--not that the jet is awful, but the guys who choose the dash generally see going to the jet as a sacrifice of some sort.

I heard from someone in HR that about 45% of people get through the Jazz interview process.

If you're in the YVR area and you want a dry-run of either the interview or the sim, PM me and we can talk about setting something up.
