Re: Flying while suspended for Impaired
I guess hypothetically there is nothing to stop someone from pursuing a pilot licence in Canada and fly commercially once you've been granted an early parole from your DUI prison time, but your driver's license is still suspended for 7 years. Just read a fascinating article about the son of a high p...

TSB reports "Insufficient fuel" cause for Keewatin Air
The April 24th, 2019 Keewatin Air B200 crash landing near Gillam MB has been reported by the TSB on July 27, 2020 as an accident resulting from insufficient fuel for flight. It is reported that the left seat was a "Captain in training" so I would assume the right seat would be someone who was a capt...

Re: How long does it take to get cat 1 medical?
Does anyone have recent experience (RE: Processing time) applying for a CAT 1 medical in the Prairie Region? As well, does anyone know if having held a previous CAT 1 (20 years ago) and still have the LVC with the blank for the temporary Physician Signature... does this reduce turn around time for a...

Re: There are no "Bad Seats" for commuters on the A220!
Paid just over $500.00 for the "Comfort Seat". All empty seats were filled with Air Canada corporate staff along for the historic Inaugural flight. Would have bought the 2 seats on the left side of the plane or should have selected the first row aisle seat where the arm rests can't be moved as the t...

There are no "Bad Seats" for commuters on the A220!
The "Spokesmodel" Air Canada captain riding in the middle seat of the A220 inaugural flight from YUL to YYC this past Thursday announced: "There are no bad seats for commuters on the A220!" I would have liked to have swapped seats with him on that flight. Even though the economy seats might be an in...

Looks like fare paying passengers can buy a ticket on the first AC A220-300 on Jan 16/2020 YUL-YYC. AC317... $358Y or $2285J

A220-300 route-proving flights with fare paying passengers
Anyone know when the first AC A220-300 route-proving flights will take place with fare paying passengers? I have seen the media release regarding the A220-300 destinations of San Jose and Seattle from YUL and YYZ starting May 4th, 2020... With the first A220-300 delivered, I would guess this aircraf...

737MAX pilot career progression?
Curious if 737MAX trained pilots are encouraged by the company to move to fill open vacancies on other fleet types? Are many new hires trained on the 737MAX living a life on the ground in YYZ or YUL receiving flat pay without per diems for the last 9 months?

Air Canada "haute cuisine" and incidence of Crew diarrhea?
Curious what percentage of Air Canada front end crew forgo the onboard cuisine in favour of "Brown Bagging" it in order to preserve the integrity of their gastrointestinal tract? Does anyone at the company track the incidence of Crew illness (ie: Diarrhea) post inflight meal consumption? My G.I. tra...

Do AC F/As have a mandatory retirement age? If not, does an active 70 year old AC F/A trump a retired 70 year old AC captain for a seat when travelling standby?

AC 045 DEL-YVR now operating via CPH?
AC 045 from DEL-YVR has been operating thru CPH since March 02/19. Is this a political routing change to avoid Pakistan's airspace? Does this diversion exceed the range of the 787-900 to operate DEL-YVR non-stop? AC 044 from YVR-DEL seems to remain a non-stop flight.

Delta has run a 767-300 on a daily LAX-HNL-LAX turn...with a lie flat product for several years, Hawaiian has a lie flat product on their A330 flights from the West Coast.... United has upgraded their domestic First 777 Cabin between SFO and HNL using some surplus 747 Lie flat seats. Having sampled ...

COPA Airlines and Fly Dubai both have their 737MAXs configured with Lie Flat Biz class seat products...so why not AC? With so many international AC 737MAX flights lasting 5-6 hrs... why not cater to the Business traveler? If I was given the choice to fly a AC 737MAX on a redeye to England or an over...

Just wondering which Canadian Airlines expect their Flight Deck Crew to be Cabin Groomers at station stops and overnights away from base? Career First Officer at AC by design?
For those joining AC late in life, being a senior "career F/O" has the advantage of bidding for preferred routes and working on larger aircraft. Are there risks bidding for the left seat at Air Canada that deter some F/O's from taking command? If you don't pass the Captain ride, do you resume your p...

Curious if a newly minted A320 AC Captain can still be drafted to his/her old gig within the company,... say as a 787 F/o? I assume any new AC A320 Captain would be flying a reserve block and wonder if the company needed an F/o to fly to DEL, Crew Sked could call a newly promoted A320 Captain if he/...
