Air Canada: We have a pilot shortage!

Me: I'm a pilot! How can I help?

Air Canada: To fly with us, you have to move to Vancouver or Toronto and start at $45k/year.

Re: Rejecting a Job offer

It was satisfying to tell AC that the pay was too low. Maybe if others did that things might change. Yes things worked out for me. I enjoy going to work. I like this approach. Show them you are a great hire; make them want you. Then laugh at their ridiculous offer. If they want a valuable employee ...

Re: Is the Pilot Shortage still on?

No shortage of pilots, there’s a shortage that will work for what’s being offered ^THIS! There are some highly skilled pilots out there that can do the job. They are being offered ridiculously low wages to live in an expensive market. Surprise, they are not taking the job. Then employers complain a...

Re: United picked on the wrong guy, this time.

I too see the agent throwing the first slap (even in the longer version). To get a full sense of the aggressor, you'd need to see a video showing the entire sequence, if there is one. Even if the player made contact first, the agent could have stepped away. He kept coming back for more. I'm guessing...

Re: At a loss. Too much bureaucracy

As soon as you use your plane for work and are transporting others for a fee, TC views that as a commercial operation requiring an OC. They don't like that. If people are doing this, they are doing it under the table and probably won't be posting on an open forum. You might get some DMs. If I am com...

Are we convinced it "crashed" as shown on the video? Could that just be an edit to make it look like it crashed?

I guess he probably wouldn't have been carrying a fire extinguisher if that was the case.

Re: Private Jets & COVID rules

Is it strange that CBC came here looking to find a story that doesn’t really exist. They literally have a narrative fabricated and they will do whatever they can to create this story. What exactly do you see wrong with the story? It is literally happening exactly as reported. You can bypass mandato...

Nothing really fit the bill and we were both reluctant to call it the U word. I was a little pissed off we couldn't get an answer. By definition, it was a UFO. Don't be scared of it. UFO does not equate to alien flying saucer. One winter evening I saw some bright objects in the sky. They looked lik...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

By far the biggest threat to the Max is the engines - with all the problems they are having - they should have had their ETOPS certification pulled long ago. Of course - you don't hear anyone going on about that. You've downplayed the accidents and defended the MAX saying any MCAS issue the plane m...

Wow.....talk about an over-reaction from almost everybody. It's the herd mentality at it's worst. Lion Air + Ethiopian = 346 lost souls. Over-reaction? No kidding. Statistically, two crashes in a new aircraft type within 6 months during the same flight regime is grounds for a pause. Purely economic...

The last two times I have been at a "large" Canadian airport, only wheel chocking was possible, if I brought my own chocks, and the sum of the landing and parking fees exceeded $75 for the visit. My small airport experience has been much more favourable, with generally some kind of tiedown points a...

Re: Well, someone has to talk about the 12 hour BTT amdt.

I think the 12 BTT rule is excessive. It punishes responsible drinkers who may want a bottle of beer or a glass of wine at the end of a long day. As has already been mentioned, it seems to target the problem drinkers who drink excessively and show up for work hungover. From my experience, those with...
