Re: 1200TT pilot with jet time advice
Time’s a little low but with jet time on Boeing, cargojet might be an option. Medium busy schedule 300-400 a year. Widebody, 15 days a month max. Training department a bit backed up on line indoc these days though. Cargojet is hard 1500TT. They do also prefer some MPIC time but the main obstacle is...

Re: Illegal wages
If you want to help, report these companies to the authorities yourself. All pilots can do this ALPA could take steps to protect junior pilots outside the union. Or to paraphrase: you're not going to do anything, except blame new pilots for those jobs paying less than minimum wages? Did I get that ...

Re: SkyLink pilot union takes pay cut & b scale
Yikes!! This is the first pay degradation I've heard of in recent history!! That is embarrassing!! I sincerely hope people avoid that operation. Nothing against their pilots, two of them have been my colleagues and were a pleasure to fly with. But that operation needs to disappear. Almost all of th...

Re: airlines posting ground job ads
I would definitely accept a ramp position at jazz, Porter or westjet for a few months to prove my ability to be successful in training and line flying duties. Even with level D sim king air experience I haven’t been successful applicant. The recruitment process in this industry is the worst and nee...

Re: Tons of applications, underwhelmed by response
It wont happen overnight. When I started applying in the beginning of summer, not a single response.Eventually I had a couple phone calls but nothing came out of it. Towards end of summer I took a position and now in October I'm getting emails or calls almost weekly from companies including two regi...

Re: 787-10 order
I'm glad we don't have to fight over 777F wages now. The 787-10 has significantly less range than the 777's so I don't know if it will replace them. Are they filling them? Many airplanes have reduced traffic so are looking to reduce the capacity as well. In the good times the 787 would have replace...

Re: Air Transat Ascension Academy pathway program
Good point! My first flying job was seasonal. The second season, after I got hired they told me they could have used someone like me the year before. :x Apparently they never saw my resume. The three I mentioned did get hired at other 705. Certainly when I meet the requirements I will be applying. D...

Re: Air Transat Ascension Academy pathway program
But that would mean 90% of applicants would be offered a job that apply regardless of experience since they are willing to recruit low times out of flight school. And we know that is false. I know of 3 people personally, with 1300 to north of 3000, all with turbine and some with turbine PIC time th...

Re: Air Transat Ascension Academy pathway program
I guess I’m struggling to understand how running a very expensive program that a few privileged people will be able to afford is going to somehow help AT when there are hundreds if not thousands of able and willing pilots that already have licenses and operational experience. Perhaps I’m missing som...

Air Transat Ascension Academy pathway program
Air Transat and CAE partnering to deliver a flair-like program to get pilots into the cockpit fast. I was unaware that they had a recruiting problem. I always though there were plenty of willing applicants.

Re: Flair pilot program
The fact that Flair management is touting this as innovative way to address pilot shortage is a joke. This program is nothing more than to download the cost of training to the candidate. Flair thinks by hiring 250 hour pilot they will stick around longer. Hope all they get is cadets and nobody with ...

Are you comparing a +$45b company to a barely $250m one? I agree pay is low especially with no YOS credit but come on!canadian_aviator_4 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 5:36 pm Funny when a year 2 united Fo makes almost 3x a year 1 67 captain.

Re: Shouldn't have been sent solo...
I soloed at 14 at a very busy uncontrolled airport. My instructor made damn sure I was ready and we even went off on a Cross-Country the day before to build up my confidence. That first circuit was terrifying, I remember singing "He's got the whole world in his hands" all the down from final to touc...

Re: Some meat drop ops are “out to lunch” (understatement)
Low time jump pilot jobs pay $5-7 per load in a single engine piston. This is standard across the country. The post just highlights facts. If you don’t like it, move on but a 300hr pilot that decides to go down that route can expect that pay. It’s a time builder or part time summer hobby for a week...
