Re: Westjet v. Jazz

Consider Transat, Sunwing, heck even morningstar. These are all better than Jazz.

Re: Interview

Hi there, If your curious as to when you’ll hear with the latest posting it should be in the next week or so. Although the ad is up, they are building the resume pool again and will start calling soon. The interviews for this round will be lined up for sometime in Nov. I would guess that they will t...

Re: Westwind 1124 ACP and Line Indoc Pilot

Speaking of Top Aces. Anyone knows the story of why their Westwind has been sitting in Dawson Creek for a couple of weeks dripping fuel from the centre tank all over the place? The westwind is notorious for leaking fuel while it sits. It’s not a lot by any means but if left unchecked than it will c...

So now “Westjet Pilots” will be flying aircraft for their direct competitor. I.e, lets partner with Westjet Vacations direcT competitor. What will the mangers come up with next. I feel bad for you folks. The powers that be are clueless. https://www.skiesmag.com/press-releases/sunwing-partners-with-s...

Re: Traing bond legal question

Reality is, 1) you signed the bond. 2) when the plane was in Maintenance. 3) after 2 weeks of maintenance, you chose to leave. If they come, pay up as you signed it. You obviously had the intentions of leaving as you resigned 2 weeks after the Aircraft was in maintenance. At the time, you had no ide...

Re: Thomas Cook Effect

The powers that be will certainly be scrambling today to figure out plan B. Hopefully with so much uncertainty the past year, they had a clause with the lessor that still allows the AC to come over for the winter months. If not, you might see the 330 flying some more this winter.

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

One thing your average Encore pilot won’t tell you is that during their interview they were asked if they understood the “One List?” They were also made to understand that the list was nothing more than a handshake and was not enshrined in anything. It was also made clear that it could go away. MMM...

Re: Thomas Cook on the edge of bankrupcy

So - I wonder what happenes to Air Transats A-320/321's? They had a bunch on lease from Thomas cook while awaiting delivery of their own A320 Neo's. Do they get repossessed right away? They get a bunch of 321s from them in the winter months, I don’t believe any of the ones they have now are leased....

Re: One List

Hey Flyinhigh, you're exactly right. It was the company that concocted the fairy tale we know as the one list. They had the option tp set things up so LEGALLY it could have happened. We could have been "one big family", but as you pointed out, we have two separate bargaining units, and we're all st...

Re: One List

Let's not forget the Encore pilots voted in their CBA without have the one list fiasco sorted out first. You talk about siblings and family with regards to your employment, if that's the case you should be mad at mom and dad. Ok, without just saying you can do it. Tell me how LEGALLY a bargaining u...

Its Air Nunavut. RUN AWAY.

In todays market, you can get a gig flying way better AC and not have to fork out the 30K for bond.

Re: One List

So you are saying some 200 hour wonder who has no footing in the Westjet Group has the same rights and privileges as a pilot who was hired pre CBA's. Again, this is why the list is dead. Great, let's add the following line to everyone's offer letter: "Welcome to the family! You are, and will always ...

Re: Interview

Standard questions, nothing to hard. Stuff like, what is your strongest attribute? biggest weakness? If we were to ask the one person who doesn't like you what they thought of you, what would they say? (I thought that was an odd one) If you meet a manager, than the first interview went well. If He/S...

Re: One List

This is the entire reason the One List is a dead duck to never be revived. Pilots are, our own worst enemy. West jet Pilots want some form of protection. Two WESTJET pilots wrote a great resolution to protect a portion of the Encore Group. Encore pilots saw this and threw their nose up in the air at...

Backhouse has been around for quite sometime and has been part of operations involving the Saab, ATR and Dash’s. For the operation he’s starting, I can guarantee he’s looked at the numbers and knows that the Saab is the best fit for whatever he’s doing. For a startup to he Saab certainly has the low...

In the two examples you provided there is one major factor, namely different countries. KLM/Air France - Dutch company based in netherlands, Air France which is obviously French. Lufthansa/Austrian - German and Austrian. Yes, these companies are owned by the same parent company. However, with the di...
