Re: Porter vs AC

AC salary will go up this year, and flat pay will be 2 years at most, maybe 1 or none. Porter will aggressively bump as well, but at the end of the day a pilot is generally paid by size, and you'll be making a lot more at AC. Question is, 10 years down the road is a high seniority schedule at Porte...

Re: 1900D to mainline or regionals?

I am currently sitting at 750 ish hours, 500 of which is in the right seat of a 1900. Im wondering if I should go to a regional carrier or if I should stick it out here until 1500 ish hours at which time I could start applying to larger carriers. Basically I am just looking for the quickest route t...

Re: Best aircraft for 1 day pairings?

If you've got significant heavy jet time, there is a good chance that you will be assigned a WB FO spot right in initial. This is outdated information. There hasn't been a WB FO from PIT since summer of 2023, except one 330 FO a few weeks ago that was actually a typo for RP. You can look at the wee...

Re: Best aircraft for 1 day pairings?

Thank you. If there were no WB FO positions during the PIT class, how long does it usually take to get a NB to WB transfer? (provided you come to AC with jet time) New hires are frozen on type for I believe it's 2 or 4 years. That being said, there are still a lot of positions needing to be filled ...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Pretty arrogant to suggest OTS pilots are somehow better than Jazz pilots and @#$! off with the windfall bullshit! It was and is contractual, with many Jazz pilot who were eligible to flow having thousands of hours and left seat of a 705 aircraft flying in the AC network. Now that that pool is bein...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

I'm not sure you realize the education and previous experience most AC OTS hires have. Delayed flow is not a 'punishment'. Any flow is a huge windfall for them. Anyway, I'm sure Jazz has its own forum. Pretty arrogant to suggest OTS pilots are somehow better than Jazz pilots and @#$! off with the w...

Re: Best aircraft for 1 day pairings?

How does fleet assignment work with AC? Do you get a list of all airplanes available and you draw a number from a hat to get a seniority number and pick what's on the board in order? Is it the same for bases? (pretty much like Jazz?) Do you have to be lucky to have options for WB FO or RP on WB? Or...

Re: Any Update On The New Contract?

Those of us that actually work here know what a good job this is. Does it come with some extra risk? Absolutely! It’s a small Company so while that comes with several huge advantages it also doesn’t have the stability of a more established airline. Is it worth the risk… for the majority of us I’d s...

Re: 704 CA or 705 FO ?

704 PIC without a doubt. At 250 MPIC, you really don't have any command experience. Most of us that have it can attest to how much the experience does for you not just on the resume, but as a professional aviator. You really learn a lot about yourself as others mentioned, not to mention strengthenin...

Re: Considering jumping ship

I don't have any skin in the game but I'd say with YVR base opening in October, unless you flow to AC and that is your career goal, make the move. You'll significantly improve your QoL including pay. Even if your goal is AC, still go to Porter. You may find a permanent home there (assuming they succ...

Strange, flair fo's make more than AC for several years...... Not able to wrap my head around looking for an answer. I've seen people getting pull towards AC like super magnets. I would agree if you with some random airlines but WESTJET mainline to AC. I hope you put all this info in your survey. The union is more than aware and the comparators have already been put in the negotiating committee's hands. Don't rely on the union or they read this site It takes many pilots notifying the MEC of what to settle for If you want these conditions then ema...

So at least 2 yrs. Some on the union never had this probationary release interview! Quite the dog and pony show. No. It was 15 months for me and the probation release was not an interview at all. It was a very civilized chat with a manager who made sure I knew where to find resources and who to tal...

Lynx posted an internal memo saying it's just speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if it still happens.
