Re: 737 - anyone ever use the N1 and Speed buttons on the MCP panel?
You could deselect speed on an approach with the auto throttle switch still in the armed position. this would allow you to run the thrust levers manually without the servo interfering, while still providing alpa floor protection. IE you get too slow, the auto throttles "wake up". This could be advan...

Re: NavCanada's stupid satelite ADSB mandate
To be clear, there is no mention in the CARs that requires you to install a Diversity system. It simply states that you need to meet the "performance standard" of 551.103. You can demonstrate this by completing a PAPPR request after a qualifying flight. If you pass, you pass, carry on and don't look...

Have done a few of these.

Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
Odd. When I imported my GA aircraft, I got pulled aside and grilled by the CBSA for 10 minutes on the price I paid and the duty owing. That aircraft wasn't leaving until the taxes were paid on import. How are corporations like this allowed to import these assets, and get away with running on governm...

The DS-160 is for a NON-Immigrant Visa application. If you are inquiring about the EB-2 NIW Visa, it is an IMMIGRANT Visa, meaning it has a path to Citizenship or Permanent Residency. Don't waste your time on this forum trying to figure something out as critical and life changing as moving and worki...

You should be ok. But I’ve not been out. I know it’s been dry here. I’d swing out and check in my plane, but it just went for annual today. If you don’t decide to land you can always come back through ER3. I’d come out and say hello.
Cheers

Haven't been out yet this year. Should be ok, as long as the snow is all gone. The west 1/3rd will be the wettest if there is any moisture sitting on it. The grass is longer there and that the lower part of the field. The eastern part near the lake is typically good, it has more of a rock base under...

Only on this god damn forum would there be an argument after the OP specifically laid out what they were looking to accomplish. How could they not be laid off? Simple, management decides not to lay them off. Will they do it later? Who knows. How about you read the Original Post, and carry on. Jesus.

Appears that if it's tagged with, at the very least, the aircraft registration it was removed from and still has the original manufacturers labels on it, it should be able to be re-certified by an avionics shop? https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/regserv/cars/part5-standards-a571sh-1899.htm I'm ...

Would it need to go back to the manufacturer for that to happen, or can an avionics shop bench test it and release it on a Form 1?

Hi, Looking at purchasing some used avionics for my certified aircraft. I’m trying to figure out what documentation is required to make these parts legal. I’m not looking for STC info, but maintenance release info requirements. Specifically: if coming from the US, is an 8130 required? Will a tag ind...

If it's not listed as High Performance as per the MD-RA calculations with wing loading you're good on that front. If it has a a Vne of less than 250 KTS and a Vso of less than 80 KTS (I think) you're good to go. Here's the great part, you built the plane, if you want to placard it for flight less th...

Prop Control Cable
I've notice that my Prop RPM slowly creeps up during flight in my O-540 powered experimental. I think this is caused by vibration slowly moving the prop rpm control cable in. Do i just adjust the nut on the back of the panel to apply more tension? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!

Well Cat, i thought i was in the same boat as you. Seems TC's "influence" has permeated MD-RA. I was in contact with them and i thought i asked a fairly simple question and got road blocks instead of answers. Very discouraging when answers are "we don't usually do/like that" as opposed to a yes or n...

Amateur Built Maintenance Question
So i'm looking at an amateur built aircraft, and i'd like it to have more HP. An additional 70 more HP to be exact. What are the legalities in TCs eyes to swap an engine out on a homebuilt?

FAA STC applicability in TCCAs eyes
I'm looking at importing an aircraft from the US. From what i've gathered in SI No. 513-003 it would qualify under a Level I review. Am i reading it correctly in that TCCA would allow the FAA STC be applied as there is a formal understanding of FAA certification? Basically, will they say "oh, this i...

I would hope the crew is in fact not having a chat with their CP. They went around twice because it obviously wasn't stable. The third time was ATC initiated. Well, considering you could sign up for close to $30 000/2 years at Sunwest for a 1900 i'd say it's not.
