Re: Encore contract negotiations

Fair enough Rez
You have your take on it and I have mine!
It’s pretty unique and perhaps once we get all the voting out of the way we can re-visit the debate.
Happy Easter!

Re: Encore contract negotiations

I think those comments are very emotional and honestly worth editing. Swoop and WestJet are one bargaining unit, Encore is not, simple. In time when wide body program is established opening new markets, Swoop is established guarding the back door, things may look very differently... There are lots ...

Re: Encore contract negotiations

Respectfully I think the biggest point you didn’t Debate well is bringing your “one list” seniority over to WJ and not taking a pay cut. Jazz does not do that. Your comparison is around the 90 percent flow is true but then you are going to 4 years of flat pay - Is that not correct - then follow scal...

Re: Encore contract negotiations

Personally I like the proposed agreement too for a few reasons. I think the salary top up is awesome! I don’t know if any other regional that does that. I also like the 60% flow. We always try and do more than 60% (or even the old 50%) but it moves the bar up. Salary seems to be pretty fair when I t...

Re: Hiring outlook

Hi guys! Courses are ongoing and simulator availability is a bottle neck for us. With that - interviews are ongoing and we are filling the courses monthly. Very happy for the folks at Encore with the new agreement! Today was the first road show! Awesome news in there with regards to flow (60%) And s...

Re: Encore's reference calls suck

Hi Guys n Gals, We still use the 3rd party from time to time. In particular when we are jammed with hiring. Don’t forget up until recently, the 2 pilot recruiters are filling spots for all three companies. WestJet, Encore and Swoop. All while doing interviews, reviewing video interviews, reviewing c...

Re: Westjet mainline interview

Anyone complete the video interview for WestJet mainline recently and willing to share info? PM if preferred. Thanks. Hi Neg, The video interview is pretty straight forward. It gives us a preliminary screen of the candidate and a chance to ask one or two questions. Over the years many companies hav...

Re: 80k for a government chief pilot

It may surprise some, but CP's rarely make much more than pilots. I think at my company, you get base salary + $20k or something like that. In exchange, you get weekends off, set your own schedule, sleep in your own bed every night and don't have to deal with jet lag. Set your own schedule, good on...

Re: Hiring?

By the way Citation driver - I would honestly prefer to see you current and blow the dust off the old skills. Holding those prior positions - although nice on the resume, only has me wondering if you flew much while doing them and when. My suggestion is to now hop into a king air (along with all the...

Re: Hiring?

Hi guys There is still an interview at swoop so I’m not sure where you get your information. We’ve (WJ) been doing all the swoop interviews up until now. Swoop has taken on one of our previous reputable recruiters and will have the same checks and balances. She will be managing the interviews going ...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future

Ok your right, However, if you bid to rouge 320 you are frozen to the 320 at rouge with no chance to bid 320 mainline. Again, Swoop is absolute shit. I don’t blame you for wanting to get out. But accepting a job at very subpar conditions that you were well aware of,in the hopes/attempt to get ahead...

I think it’s an awesome picture though! A pretty big accomplishment for us and a big thanks for everyone’s contributions to make this happen. I agree Mike, it’s been a bit of a tough couple years here but time to move forward! Still lots of good stuff going on. Great time to be a pilot in Canada too...

Re: WestJet introduces WestJet Link

Hi Victory NCP is correct. There is no conspiracy there. I was in fact, working on the actual document (non flow) at the time the Pasco QnA surfaced and it had gone back n forth a bit already. There was never anything around Direct flow in that document. Hopefully that information snuffs that rumour...

Re: WestJet introduces WestJet Link

Hi there, All valid concerns with regards to swoop and Encore. Unfortunately the lack of information is just that. The lack of information. I consistently ask what the plan is for swoop hiring and I’m hoping to hear something soon. So the encore guys aren’t alone when it comes to a plan but the new ...

Re: WestJet introduces WestJet Link

I'm sorry you feel so hard done by. God knows all we talk about on the flight deck is how we can screw over the Encore pilots. Oh wait that's not true at all. In fact quite the opposite is true but if you don't believe that then I can't help you. We don't have any say over how many Encore flow over...

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool

Hi There I believe there might be 1 or two spots left open for the encore class in November. That will be the last course for 2017 as we don't like to train through the holidays in December. The pool continues to nicely build for the next two encore classes in January as well - those offers will be ...

Re: Encore hiring 1500 hour Captains now?

I can confirm the averages are pretty tight to those numbers.
Mudslinging or not - it's a pretty good place to work. I still remember having 8 or 9 thousand hours trying to get on a regional carrier of this caliber in the mid nineties. Oh how the times have changed!
Take care

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool

Hi there We are just getting some visibility. The first and second q hiring will likely be mostly encore. The new ULCC will be the big question mark as it gets ready to launch in the second quarter. The second half of 2018 will likely be the busier half of the year due to 787 deliveries in the first...

As for the direct entry positions, I can only recall people with approximately 3500 - 4500 hrs coming in for interviews there.
