Re: New Hire Sims?

I don't think anyone is seriously saying it's not a shitty wage... but the histrionics of "oh I can only eat kraft dinner and hotdogs"! ....is perhaps a bit rich for someone experiencing actual poverty. Which is probably moot because they aren't reading an avcan forum anyway. But if we're trying to ...

Re: New Hire Sims?

I think both things can be true, it's not mutually exclusive. It's a pay and experience issue. Yes, AC is not getting the candidates it should because they don't want to pay. But since they are only getting 2000hr candidates now, they have to deal with the possible 'shallower experience' levels as s...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian

Yes 'Flat pay' is not so much the issue, its just the rate that's the problem. It's just an MMG which is much simpler and spread evenly throughout the year, like almost every other airline I believe...

Do the US airlines use an MMG type system? Or do they use convoluted formulae as well...

Troll alert. There is an apetogether and an apestogether. I think it's the same guy, he's got so many user names he can't even keep track of them any more. Lol there is also an accountant and an acountant that is trolling. There needs to be a sticky at the top of all these forums now. Look out for ...

Re: “I compete in Canada, so I need to be competitive in Canada,” - Mike Rosseau

As mentioned before, don’t forget the quality of life and contract fixes that are so important. AC is so far behind in this regard I believe it’s at least as important or even more so than pay (except for flat pay).

He left out the part where the real reason for swoop was to attempt to restart salaries and implement a B-scale. Glad to see it failed.

As long as it takes and then some. I'm ready. Shut 'er down. Get your shit together men! We won't strike, but when they lock us out I'm not going back until we achieve all of our goals. No caving. No compromise. No back to work legislation. I'm not going back until we achieve all of our goals. This...

Re: Air Canada slashing routes out of Calgary in face of ongoing pilot shortage

AC is setting up the messaging for bringing in a massive amount of foreign pilots. Just wait for the mBA terms such as “operational sustainability” to hit the government and then the pressure will mount that the Canadian public will absolutely support. Which experienced foreign pilots would want to...

More ACPA thinking. You can only have one bread crumb back at a time. (I kid...) But seriously, the whole notion of horse trading and 'bargaining capital' needs to go away.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Many people will put in their bid, to automatically be placed at say, 75% of the list. (Or whatever) So they are just delaying until they can hold a better sched. In the meantime, those willing to be at the bottom are free to take it. However, higher seniority numbers will be parachuting in above yo...

Entry level pilots are underpaid. 20 year pilots are not.
That part I can actually agree with. That, plus the time value of money, I would rather have the pay scales squished and not be so top heavy.

Re: New CA Expectation

The solution is simple. Stop accepting the current AC offer. As long as AC fills up every single GS with hundreds of pilots on flat pay then how much leverage do you really have ? But because muh seniority number and muh pension and muh career progression, we have pilots crawling naked over broken ...

Re: New CA Expectation

But 1500hr pilots are being hired at AC. You're absolutely right, but has anything changed really? I still see a blatant willingness to accept less by this pilot group - i.e. full ground schools every month. I'm also seeing who's filling those ground schools: 25 year olds still living in mommy's ba...

Re: Is this a legitimate scenario?????

Definitely the minority. While I don't condone those remarks, gotta remember that the wounds from Swoop are still very fresh. Lots of WJ pilots had their upgrades delayed while watching junior pilots take the much lower paying Swoop Captain position.. Nonetheless, please don't let a few remarks fro...

I’ve never seen a forum as bad as this. Unusable without adblock.

Adblock pro if you’re on safari on mobile, ublock origin if you’re on firefox. Makes the site like it was 15 years ago.

Re: Schedule satisfaction

Fair enough, ideally the pairing construction will be fixed so that those who stay senior on the FO side, get more benefit rather than just the very top of the list. I think a calendar day min credit would be a good place to start!

Re: Schedule satisfaction

Socialized bidding affords junior pilots a better schedule early in their career. But …. Then they don’t get that jammy flying when they are senior. I see both sides, but I find it interesting this is still seen as more preferable. When the kids are young, the days matter. When you're an old fart, ...
