Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
One of the things that drives me nuts is how the airframer sales people sell these airplanes to their airline customers - usually bean counters and MBA's. "Really easy to fly, no problem bringing low time cadets on board." " Reduced training costs. All your XXX pilots need is an internet based diff...

Re: Sussex Airshow Crash
Finally the trial starts. Do you take solace in that? I highly doubt that anyone goes out to perform a display only to narrowly escape death themselves. Assuming the man has a conscience, I am sure that he has his own cloud to make peace with. For Christ sake, people make mistakes, this one was dea...

Re: Small Plane Crash at Carp - Pilot Injured
Thanks. More info would be nice. Handling issues, engine reliability, etc. Are you an accident investigator then? The Challenger is a pretty common ultralight type with a Rotax engine. You can probably find out all you need to know from reliable and official sources. Does that help your need to know?

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?
Well, we have now had 27 pages of, mostly, name calling, experience doubting, pure rudeness, ignorance, arrogance and occasional stupidity interspersed with relevant good comment and, Rockie, should you care to browse all 27 pages you will find examples of them all. When it comes out we are all sure...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?
Can't believe some of the tweets. 100 feet clearance isn't serious enough? How close would everyone like it? What if the engines didn't spool for any reason, instantly? Get real people. We are talking a matter of what a few seconds? Comedy hour here, except it's not funny.   Care...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?
Height above the ground for the latter part of the approach and landing is measured by a radar altimeter and it is very accurate as demonstrated in the " retard " voice command just prior to touch down. Well, that's it then! That's how he figured it was time to go around; the radalt called the pilo...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?
I know this will infuriate a few frequent posters here, but I'm with Rockie on this one. Why do you keep expressing the event this way? Why don't you state. as a fact, "The highly trained Air Canada crew lined up, approached, descended and came close to landing on the taxiway at SFO International a...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?
I say nobody got hurt and nothing was bent to inject some much needed non-hysteria to the dialogue. If it is your belief I'm dismissing this as a non-event unworthy of investigation then I suggest you go back and read all of my posts again. The last thing I need to do is read all your posts again. ...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?
The NTSB is only stating facts in this preliminary report, not jumping to any conclusions like the people here. But some facts are worth recapping: The crew went around as they are trained to do. Nobody was hurt and nothing was bent. Why do you keep expressing the event this way? Why don't you stat...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?
This thread, at least the earlier part of it, is about an aircraft that nearly landed on a taxiway at night at a busy airport. They didn't nearly land on a taxiway... that's media hyperbole that everyone seems to be falling for. They incorrectly lined up on and over flew a taxiway. What the hell is...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?
Let's review the undisputed facts: 1. AC759 lined up with Taxiway C and planned to land on it believing it was 28R. 2. AC759 continued with this approach until instructed to go-around by ATC. 3. Approach lights were on at unknown intensity. 4. AC759 noticed unexpected lights on its intended landing ...
