Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

Many years ago when I was at Jazz, a wise old captain told me how he had turned down an offer from AC because everyone was sure that the CIRB would merge AO with AC and he'd get elevated seniority at AC. Sounds a lot like this thread. Things change. And so did ACs interference and direct interventi...

Yes, I think 80 or so are on their way out before the end of the year, starting next week.

Going down to 80 tails next year. 25 E175 25 Q400 and 30 CRJ so I’ve been told.
We can't staff that now, so won't make much of a difference

Inverted2 wrote: Thu Sep 04, 2025 7:26 pm Number of classes is a moot point. Could run 2 classes a month of 6 pilots. All depends on the overall hiring numbers. Hasn’t been much lately.
And it won't change until those that control the $ get their heads out of their ass and realize this only gets fixed with money.

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th

I find it incredible how during all this chaos and disruption, the leaders at Air Canada are no where to be seen or herd. I've seen many different news reporting over yesterday and today and not one with any actual representative of air Canada, they realeased a small one sentence statement and that...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

I couldn't agree more with this but Claude is at the helm here. I haven't heard that common employer has been applied for but I have heard that Jazz MEC is trying to a get a full seniority integration for everyone at Jazz. This wasn't the originally ask and caught the ACA MEC off guard. Rumour of c...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th

Bad news TalkingPie, being a FA is not a profession. That's just ignorant and arrogant. Especially for an airline like AC which prides itself on its first class service and offerings. And 100k isn’t what it used to be, especially when living in YVR or YYZ. And the bottom end isnt anywhere near that...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

Altipiano, you’re free to voice your opinion here, but the fact remains: the CIRB has full authority to adjust a seniority list, even if the list is “owned” by the union. Here’s what you can realistically expect from this case: Compensation for current Jazz pilots – This stems from the PAL Agreemen...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th

In typical fashion both the Employer and CUPE are busy telling half-truths. The "unpaid work" banner has certainly resonated with the public, but the truth is a different story. FA hourly pay is calculated to compensate for the so-called unpaid work, top pay is currently $85 / hour which takes many...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th

I would not be surprised if the company fires all of them. Management is that drunk with power. This is definitely a very arrogant management group... their behaviour is hard to understand. Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

Exactly. What the hell were you guys thinking? 3rd party dictate terms? You voted for it! AC is JZ's customer, not your employer, they're a third party to your deal, and AC pilots are no party to your deal. Common employer, here it goes again, already failed, and that was when AC actually owned JZ....

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

Sounds more like a pinky swear to me. How can a company you don't even work at have an binding employment agreement with you? Why would anyone being hired think that isn't their position take. Your issue is with your employer, and probably should be with your JZA MEC too for pushing through things ...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

Again. AC Pilots aren't party to it and it's their seniority list, Air Canada doesn't own the seniority list. Go get paid. But if you come for a seniority shuffle you divide and hurt the group you're now a part of. It costs pilots, not Air Canada or Jazz, wouldn't they like that. This is your choic...

Legally binding with Jazz and JZA ALPA. AC Pilots aren't party to it I'm not talking about treating people based on where they worked, but based on how they acted. Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

ACA ALPA have observer status, not a voice at the table. They are involved so they can get ahead of it if it were to come to a point that it affects AC members. The dispute is with Jazz though, not AC pilots, so it's not going to happen. If there really are ex-Jazz pilots here that believe they wil...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

ACA ALPA MEC has intervernor status because a lot of the affected JAZ ALPA pilots are now ACA ALPA pilots. I'd expect APA ALPA MEC to support the ex-Jazz hires at AC in the same way they support non-Jazz hires at AC. Reorganizing the seniority list is net neutral for the ACA pilots, and it could be...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

Unfortunately we still have ex-Jazz Pilots that are convinced they will move 1000 numbers up the seniority list. Along with that belief, comes a massive chip on their shoulder. Hopefully you get some sort of monetary compensation, but the seniority list is not changing. You don't know that. No one ...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?

You don't know that. No one does. AC pilots have standing for a reason, it means the outcome could impact them, and thus they have a voice at the table. If they were just discussing compensation, AC pilots would have no reason to be involved. ACA ALPA have observer status, not a voice at the table....
