Re: Best Countries/Operations for low time pilots

Aviation in Canada can never improve for pilots if pilots are willing to " eat shit " to fly for a living. One reason I use my real name on these forums is to give some credibility to my opinions concerning the industry. During my career I never compromised my integrity as a professional pilot just ...

Re: Best Countries/Operations for low time pilots

I'm willing to bet both of you are in Canada. If you're not..... I'll eat my hat Yes I am in Canada and retired after working outside Canada for many years. The best thing that ever happened to me in aviation was leaving Canada to fly in many other countries. Canada is a socialistic nightmare. Tran...

Re: Training bound and upfront cash

I have been out of aviation for some time and maybe not up to speed in all the new developments.

I know what up front cash is.

What is a training bound?

Re: BC Float rating cost

It was on a C180 on Edos, and when I was job hunting I did get a few comments from CP's that the C180 time was favorable and they liked to see that vs. cub/172 time. Given most jobs will likely start on a C180 or possibly a 206. What exactly did you learn about float plane flying on the Cessna 180 ...

Re: Career options while facing a DUI charge.

See, this is what kills you credibility in my opinion.
Well lets start with who we are.

I use my real name on these forums and also the names of a few of my past clients especially on Pprune, so far no one has challenged the truthfulness of my posts.

Re: Career options while facing a DUI charge.

Now, DUI shows poor judgement and planning. I don't see any valid argument aginst this fact. The fact that it happened to Cat Driver or any other diety on the forum doesn't make it right. This subject is just far to more important to allow the above comment to go unchallenged. First off radubc I am...

Re: Bush flying training.

I have not been involved in training in Canada for decades, when I was in the training business in Canada the multi engine flight tests were done by Transport Canada which should mean the check pilot would not have a monetary gain in doing a check ride. Unfortunately, time and money are a considerat...

Re: Bush flying training.

The idea Meatservo is for high time pilots with a history of safe flying in a given field of aviation to get together and form an association of pilots who offer advanced flight training / pilot mentoring to low time pilots wishing to upgrade their skills to make them more attractive to a potential ...

Re: Bush flying training.

OK .. I really don't need a bush course. But if anyone in Ontario wants training, I would be more than happy to train. I have limited BC experience but I do have 6,000 hr of bush experience. You should get to know Randy and Iflyforpie. They are the guys I am involved with to set up a new type of pi...

Re: Bush flying training.

Why not just post as ., Cat Driver? Sorry for posting under Cat Driver it was inadvertent as I was using one of my several computers that was logged in under Cat Driver from about six months ago and I had clicked post before I noticed. Enough with the elitism. It gets tiresome. You have me perplexe...

Re: Bush flying training.

.. I am curious about you providing a PPC on a single engine float plane. I'm interested to know what that is. Are you a TC Canada approved DFTE for single engine floats?? Good morning Lost Lake. If you read through this thread you will find I am only involved in an advisory capacity, the course is...

Re: IFR instructor experience

If the CARS were changed,, there would only be experienced people teaching... Just imagine a situation where the teachers were eons ahead of those TC inspectors who couldn't make it in aviation if you took their power base away from them by having teachers who would not be intimidated by them commo...

Re: IFR instructor experience

At any given time there are probably hundreds of PPL holders who are working to get their IR on the way to getting a CPL and their first flying gig, and the number of experienced line pilots willing to teach them is probably minuscule. Yes that is a fact of the flying training business, few experie...

Well if the bar to being able to participate in the conversation is actual experience in the above conditions than I guess I am not qualified to comment. Yes I sort of figured that out so why comment on something you don't have a clue about? Maybe I will post on decision making as a career F.O. wou...

Re: IFR instructor experience

Decision making a can get tricky sometimes. Let's have a look at three scenarios that one might be faced with and what considerations and decision making would be examined before launching into the air. Each of these flights will be made in IMC conditions. A long flight in the Arctic in IMC with blo...

Re: IFR instructor experience

For example, would you say most of the people you've given type conversion training to have all stayed safe and flown well? To the best of my knowledge they all have. Isn't that a measure of instructing success? Do people still come to you for your instructing wisdom? You are still involved in inst...

Re: IFR instructor experience

You've given no evidence you were, and the factor that you quit it long ago, says you didn't do it that long. I can not answer for Strega but in my case I let my Canadian flight instructors rating lapse about six years after I first received it. I let it lapse because it made no sense to teach flyi...
