Re: Recession incoming

But they happen anyways.

Read Human Action, by Ludwig Von Mises. Lots of good knowledge in the Austrian School of Economics on human psychology and its effects on the market.

Re: Updated MCAS ‘Safe’ Says MAX Technical Team

Am I to understand that the competency of some foreign airline pilots may have some effect on the possibility of having an accident in a Boeing Max? When 7 pilots ride in the simulator, 2 in the front, one instructor, and 4 standing in the back logging the time like at Lion Air, and when they put 2...

Re: Environmental impact of aviation

Let's assume ACC is our fault - some data suggests otherwise, but let's. Let's assume that we in the West have the power to reverse it - without cooperation from 2nd and 3rd world economies. Again, not without adverse disagreeing data, but let's. There will be no improvement to our situation until t...

Re: Do you have to snag intermittent problems?

I always do. Sometimes just writing a snag as "for pilot information purposes only", so that others can make safe and well-informed decisions in the future. For example, TCAS resetting by itself in flight. Auto-stabilized radar showing a ton of ground clutter at 80nm scale, but not at 160 or 40nm. V...

Also, the last time people were so leveraged in Real Estate like Canadians are these years, it took 24 years for inflation-adjusted prices to recover in the GTA (1989 vs 2013). Don't put all your eggs in one basket. There aren't enough people in Canada to buy all the million-dollar homes in the GTA ...

Nobody mentioning how pilots and other users of these forums can make themselves recession-proof, or at least remove the sting when it happens. I, for on...

Slowing economy? Slowing growth perhaps, but not a slowing economy... Not with the current goosed up corporate profits. Forward P/Es are in the safe range. The Schiller is a little high, but otherwise reasonable. Recessions happen when corporate profits tank. They aren't tanking right now. In fact, ...

http://avherald.com/h?article=4c2dfb0c&opt=0 An Emirates Boeing 777-300, registration A6-EBR performing flight EK-928 from Cairo (Egypt) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) with 364 people on board, was accelerating for takeoff from Cairo's runway 05L when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed (about ...

Everybody blaming others, nobody placing the blame on themselves. What you do matters. Not Trump, not Trudeau, not CR, not ES, you. If you strive for metal, you will lose out on pay and conditions. If you strive for conditions, you will lose on pay and metal. If you strive for pay, you will lose out...

His base is too busy crowdfunding the wall to see what's happening to their 401k's. Just imagine the leader of a country trying to protect the safety of the citizens of the country from foreign intruders. Fortunately we don't have to worry about our leader doing that. Crowdfund is going very well. ...

Re: Are we entering another recession?

Sure, markets are getting hammered, but that's just noise. Profit taking in time for the end of the so-so year. Many traders thought 2018 would be like 2017 and got burnt. So they sell at a loss now, so that they can show a loss during tax time. Things are still going very very well. Except for Cana...

Re: Are we entering another recession?

BlackRock placed global recession risk to 19% in 2019, 36% in 2020, and 54% in 2021. NOW, it all hinges on the US. I have no idea where y'all think that we have global headwinds (fake news maybe?). The US economy is on fire. It has, essentially full employment. Corporate profits are up by a ton. The...

Re: The other side of new duty regs?

Number of cycles is a big issue. I remember a 10 hour day of 12 cycles in the North was a lot more fatiguing than what I do right now at 12-14 hour, 2 cycles. In fact, talking to coworkers in my 705 op with a lot of day turns, you will find the desire for the new regs a lot more muted. Regionals, th...

Re: Moving to the states but still working in Canada

From my limited knowledge, for you, the best way to go is to move to the States, become a permanent resident, but never ever become a citizen. Also, healthcare in the States is so much better than the Canadian system. That is why over 50,000 Canadians go to the US for healthcare every year. People o...
