Re: We're Almost There Guys
The original posters picture is actually the pilot waiting for WAWCON to improve and not willing to take the cut. Meanwhile the guy that did leap frogs him after 4 years and is 10 years younger!

Float Plane available to build time - GTA / Barrie
People who are already float rated and looking to build some more float time for personal or professional reasons PM me. There is a 172 available at a competitive wet rate in the Barrie area. Solo rentals are possible once 25 hours of total float time is reached. Great option for building PIC time a...

Maybe you guys missed the part in the first line when I said I agree with you and last line when I said I was joking about the 1/10th comment, and unless you stand while at your computer you did take it sitting down and it felt great ;) Anyways, I'm sure you'll get all sour about that to and say som...

Re: 100Hr Instructor job?!?!!!!!
I don't want to put this to bed, cause I love a good debate, but I agree with you guys. I don't agree that I am a whore and compare me to buying a PPC, cause thats a little harsh. The first words out of my mouth when someone mentions buying a PPC is "F*** That." If you read some past posts, I enjoy ...

Re: 100Hr Instructor job?!?!!!!!
My First Float Job in Southern Ontario was at 50 hours on floats and 200 TT. First rating signed off at 56 float hours. 2 Summers of that I've got 200 on floats and now I've moved on to bigger and better things and still doing ratings on the side. Fact is, it is a low time float opportunity for a gu...

Re: Future Air-Holland Landing
Holland Landing is only a float base for a 172 with Future Air on the West Holland River, South Simcoe Marina. Future Air no longer provides training from the Air Park there. Your best bet is to call the Collingwood or Barrie Base if those work for you.

Re: Tartan Air for float rating
50 hours than was 8000 bucks, but it was also 1000 lower because the engine was going to be overhauled in the winter so a lower price to attract more business and hours to help with overhaul costs was why I got a cheaper price. I believe the price is around 9000 for 50 now but that was 06, things ha...

Re: Tartan Air for float rating
I was there in the fall of 06, mid to late October. I suggest calling as well, Mark is a great guy and very busy so email can be replied to late. Last time I spoke with Mark he was still getting a lot of business on the plane and he tended to do 50 hour programs in the fall and spring, the summer is...

Re: Tartan Air for float rating
To sum it up, the best decision I ever made during my flight training was going to PEI and flying 50 hours with Tartan Air. Well kept airplane, amazing scenery, technical flying on the ocean and around Nova Scotia. Plus I couldn't find a better price for 50 hours on floats anywhere else in the count...

30 000????? What farm are you from, maybe your getting your numbers mixed up with what a few 100 acres of barley, wheat or canoloa are going to yield this season. I did a 50 hour course for less than 10K on a 172 and now fly for a company offering a 50 hour program for around 13 000 on a 172. I agre...

It was nice seeing the Snowbirds this afternoon with lightning and rolling clouds as a back drop to the show. They made it a short one, but for the amount I've seen them, it was finally something new!

Re: Cherokee 140 on Floats
So, 60 Litres of fuel, about 350 lbs between the two of us and the plane performed like a flying washing machine......I won't be flying the plane anymore. Performance or lack there of was dangerously low. Comfort level dropped way low really fast for me and the old gut was telling me its an accident...

Re: Cherokee 140 on Floats
Started with none....got to the step, pulled 1st notch, 60 knots pulled second notch and she jumped off no problem. Ground Effect, climbed out got rid of flap. 75-80 final, landing not less than 65. Indicated about 90kts cruise at 2300 rpm. Landing full flap she liked that, got rid of the flap as so...

Re: Cherokee 140 on Floats
Here are some pictures......Nohing to exciting, can only do so much with the camera when I'm flying.
I plan on showing the owner close to the limits of the plane and I can't imagine we will get much more than full fuel pilot and passenger. I'll let you know.

Re: Cherokee 140 on Floats
Well, it was a success, 4am Police Escort to the water. Off the water in the am, plane was very comparable to a 172, besides the obvious associated with a low wing. I was surprised with its performance, there was no question about its ability on floats. I enjoyed flying it. That plane and rough wate...

Re: Cherokee 140 on Floats
I have visions while docking of a passenger getting out of the right seat to let the pilot dock, the pax stands on the wing, maneuvers around the door while the pilot gets out, pilot stumbles over the passenger, passenger falls backword over the leading edge, hits the dock rolls into the water and g...
