You can dig a Beaver and you can land a Beaver sideways, but you can't dig a Beaver sideways, especially empty and nose heavy. If you do, an immediate pull back with fast power application can save you. It almost always happens in glassy conditions with poor technique.

Don't be like a pilot. If pilots are sitting around telling each other War Stories. Don't be sitting with them. Be working. Your day will come where you can hang around and drink coffee. Not needing to be spoon fed instructions and tasks all day is important. You will learn quickly what is required....

Did the second Twin Otter make it in ahead of them? That always creates another layer into the decision making process.

I feel like there is more going on behind the scenes, then what this report shows? Certainly enough info for the insurance company to say the aircraft was not airworthy? Is that possibly the reason for the tit for tat lawsuits?

Using drums left standing up ,with a loose bung, without a filter is never going to be successful procedure long term. Good work by the driver that everyone lived.

If it got in the air, it should have no problem staying there.
A plane with alot of water will certainly take longer to become airborne, or it simply will not become airborne. Water weight may be a factor, but certainly will not be the only factor.

Re: Midair at DCA
Is this a common procedure in the area? I don't know the area but I assume this is a procedure where traffic is kept over the river? Seems like allowing VFR traffic to cut across the approach at 350 ft, a mile out could only end badly.

Very strange. An FCU failure usually leaves the engine at low power. I have had to use Emergency power a couple times. Not sure why that would not work in this case?

Couple things.
-Did the AME enter a rectification in the logbook?
-it was almost certainly pilot error.
-you should pursue a new career path.

So. The way this part works. Is it safe to assume the ring was in but came off at some point shortly before the accident? Would it have then spun off with a few turns of the wheel?
