Re: Air Canada lands again
FYI I am a rare poster on AvCanada but drop by for pleasure reading quite frequently. I enjoy, most of all, the professional information and exchanges between knowledgeable professional pilots and others. IMO this type of sensationalistic postings by pelmet is counter productive to the health and su...

CID Re: So...Air Canada is my preferred domestic and international carrier. I agree! Every now and then some people on this forum will find joy in poking fun at our major Canadian airline. Let it be! I spent time in London and specifically at the various airport hotel for convenience when I had an e...

A400m Down
Just read the news a few minutes ago. This is a relatively new, long delayed development military purpose aircraft. I watched this aircraft perform at the Orly airport during the airshow. It was an unbelievably maneuverable/agile aircraft for a transport type category. No news of anyone surviving th...

Re: 180 Float plane down in Thunder Bay harbor!
Does anybody know if the pilot name initial was K.S. I ask because I know him from way back when. I heard he has a 180 on floats somewhere in NW Ont.

Re: Volcanic activity in iceland
As predicted by scientists monitoring this volcanic development just a few hours ago the volcano has breached the surface. There is a nice glow now and it should get much, much bigger in the next few hours and days. Here is a live webcam site if you are interested to watch its development: http://ww...

Airspace closed around the predicted breach of the volcano.

[quote="Charles the Equestrian"]Doesn't the prospect of paying for a particular product and getting an inferior one without choice cause you some degree of trepidation? If you heard your favourite steak restaurant all of the sudden started bringing people a hotdog when they ordered a prime cut steak...

Re: What do you know about Lithium batteries?
I see that the authorities have approved a limited flight testing now. They must have found a way to control thermal runaways or a way to keep the batteries cool. Regardless its great news for Boeing and all airlines who have their fleet grounded. Anyone has pictures of the lined B787 on the ramp at...

Re: What do you know about Lithium batteries?
Thanks Chris; That's what I was looking for. From the article it seem that experts in the field of batteries design are on the same line of thinking as I am. The last paragraph pretty much sum it up. The engineer who designed this battery went to quite a length and process to deliver this light weig...

Re: What do you know about Lithium batteries?
Thank you all for your contribution to my question. I was looking more at an answer from a deeper technical point of view. In short, it appear that these type of batteries are lighter weight, better performance but have a fatal flaw. They are prone to have a thermal runaway or easily short circuited...

What do you know about Lithium batteries?
Good Day all; I read this article and was not impressed. http://lithium-ion.weebly.com/ I am not familiar with this type of batteries other than to know that they are "high performance" type and relatively light in weight. Did Boeing engineering knew about this type of problems and did they design t...

Not my fight but since I am an infrequent visitor here I enjoy the various subjects discussed. I cannot believe the amount of "yanking your chain" goes on in this tread and others. Rookie seem to think of himself as an army of one. He is able to rattle the cage to no end. And there seem lots of fish...

After all they are not just pilots.......unlike you they are also owners. Sorry WJ pilots. After a bombardment of tv ads l...
