Re: English and French??

In France... I believe they speak English for ATC communications. In Québec... you have the choice E/F. Oh, and the premium for ATC who are required to be bilingual is $800 per year! Not worth it! In France, communications are made in French. English is only used by ATC with foreign airc...

Re: Peter Shewring, Canadian aviation icon, passes on

Just discovered this bad news now : I feel so sad. He was clearly one of the greatest, a true gentleman pilot and instructor.
All my condoleances to his family and friends.
I owe you a beer. Will miss you.
RIP Peter

Re: Northwest A320 overflies destination by 150 miles . . .

We have 30 minutes only because the regulation says it so : this is not a limitation coming from the technology, they just have to change the duration for the CVR. On an A320, you have around 40 hours of flight datas (more than 100 parameters) on a simple 128 mb disc coming from the QAR, which is wa...

Re: Exposure to Radiation!?

Due to its very high level of flight, cosmic radiations were a concern in the Concorde. If I am not mistaken, they had instruments to measure those radiations in the cockpit, and had to report the level/time of exposure to these radiations on a log. There's an interesting page from British Airways a...

Cross country flight time is any flight that you will conduct, that will require you to navigate along a route to a destination. Transport Canada does not specifically define this term but giv...
