Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

Manual electric trim is the electric trim on the yoke with the auto pilot disengaged. Boeing calls it “Main electric trim”. Manual trim is using the stab trim wheel handles. When the electric trim is running away you disengage auto pilot and auto throttles and use the electric trim manually which st...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

I haven't read the report but I think the Ethiopian crew did perform the action to turn off the stab switches and the stop automatic, intermittent nose-down trimming but found that a large pull force was required to not descend. Their attempt to manually trim nose-up was unsuccessful so they select...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

The procedures required to deal with a stab trim runaway are essentialy the same to deal with an MCAS runaway.

The Lion Air crew that saved the aircraft from the first MCAS runaway most likely performed those actions while the second crew that lost the aircraft did not and nor did the Ethiopian crew.

Re: Flair off runway excursion YKF

And or a speedbrake that wasn't armed or deployed. Even if not armed, the speedbrakes will deploy automatically once the wheels spin up and levers positioned for reverse thrust. If you're going to speculate do it grounded on some facts rather than posting for the sake of posting. You have to first ...

With TUI owning such a large chunk of Sunwing you have to wonder what side of the pond runs the airline.

I did a course at SimuFlite in Dallas/Ft. Worth over 20 years ago that was very thorough. Not sure if they still offer it or if you can do it online now.

Re: Russian WJHC team behaving badly on AC

I had a U.S. NHL team in the back on a charter and had to delay take-off because a couple of the young prima-donas were being idiots during taxi.

What’s sad about this case on AC is that coaches were being idiots.

Regardless of all of that it’s ok to go-around and head to Kuujj. Was a similar situation there at Kuujjarapik 7am. Runways 03 or 210 (20T/200T) 30mph gusting 38mph from WNW (290T)/wunderground history Dec17. Perfectly ninety degree crosswind, …what’s the chance for that. And or La Grande or wherev...

Re: Keewatin overrun in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut

Unless it’s changed, Sani’s runway is dished and landing westbound the runway drops away as you come over threshold and keeps dropping as you reach the touchdown zone making long landings a strong possibility unless you are very aware of it. Then the runway slopes up after the mid point from what I ...

Re: Keewatin overrun in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut

Been to Sani many times in a Merlin 2A and King Air 200. I never had the feeling that I did not want to go in adverse weather but it was going to be challenging. Good memories and a number of amazing sani-stone carvings from that place.

Is the runway still a bowl?
