Re: ATPL Canadian conversion to American

Finally got some info on the current conversion process. -30 hour CTP training course. (As of now only one is approved, at Embry-Riddle, and you have to be a student of Embry-Riddle to qualify) Talk about putting the cart before the horse. -4 hours Fixed based simulation training -6 hours...

Re: ATPL Canadian conversion to American

Are you guys serious? My company is flying me to the US from Australia in Oct. to do sim training and I was planning on doing my conversion then. Surprised I never heard about this. Is that because they are moving to Part 61? So you guys are saying it's now going to be a month of ground scho...

Re: The music is starting, but are we seeing the impact yet?

It sounds all well and good that everyone is hiring and I'm sure the people undergoing interviews are a happy bunch, but unfortunately my phone hasn't rung. I suppose there are much more qualified people that have been waiting for this to happen and when they are scooped up they'll come looking for ...

That sounds like quite an adventure slipter. Mind if I ask what type of a/c you are flying over there? I'm looking at doing some ferrying out of Australia, looks like with the strength of the dollar down under that is a hot topic.

I was single for the first 10 years and moved about every 6 months. Now that I have found "the one" she has had to quit two jobs and is about to quit a third (career jobs, not just mindless jobs) in the past year. I also thank my lucky stars that I have found someone who is willing to do that for me...

Re: Heathrow crash B777 Captain Peter Burkill rejoins BA . .

I read his book and you can really feel how he must've felt and how easy it would be to go from being on top of the world loving life to having the whole country thinking you are a screw up and no matter what you do all your co-workers doubt you and your abilities. Hopefully now that he's back evver...

Re: Winair recently? Also opinions on -6 cert from Flightsaf

Pretty accurate what everyone said. I stopped by there when I was doing the job tour. They offered me a job on their Islander a few times but said no matter what I couldn't touch their twin otters without the type rating. (had 3000 hrs at the time and 1000 on the islander). If your daddy's rich it'd...

Being a professional pilot in Canada is like dating a beautiful bitch. You are on top of the world when she is telling you how much she loves you and being sweet and thoughtful but when she's mad at you you couldn't be more miserable. And after awhile of putting up with her shit you start looking at...

And a PPC doesn't expire so if you have it then you can always revert back to it down the road when your billionare father in law wants you to fly his Pa-31 and throws you the family credit card. Always have to be thinking ahead. 8)

And ensure you stipulate the terms in case of a layoff/termination situation. If they are charging you that much for a pcc they would probably enjoy spending your money while they push you out the door onto the unemployment line.

Yeah definitly give them a call. They used to fly the navajo quie a bit throughout the summer and winter months and depending on the american traffic can be the same on floats. Brad's dad flies the helicopter and is a great pilot and a really down to earth man. A respected enterprise in the area.

Good on all of you who did get work this summer. No matter if it's sitting right seat in an Otter or loading/washing planes being treated like a slave. You are all one step closer to getting behind the wheel (unless your first job is of course). Remember there is always someone watching and sometime...

Crazy-aviator I couldn't agree with you more, not to mention most of us would have paid income tax on the money we used to buy such used merchandise. I think what is going to happen is that they are going to find 2008 Cadillacs having $3000 on the bill of sale. Be a bit difficult for the seller to h...

Sounds like you have a job. Probably be best to stick it out unless someone else has given you the thumbs up. Not the best time to throw caution to the wind imho. But get on the horn and see what comes of it. You never know right!! Good luck.
