Re: AIRSPRINT
whats the pay scale for the jet? is there any chance of going direct to the jet if you come with 4000 hrs+ The jet pay scale was posted fairly recently. Something like 60, 70, 80, 85, 87500, 90, 92500, 95, 97500, 100. I think most of the first officers have more experience than you right now howeve...

Re: Accident at Burlington Air Park on Sunday
If I'm not mistaken, I think GHR had was in an accident in Guelph about 10 years ago. Pretty much a write off then. I remember being surprised to see it flying again.

Re: Airsprint lays off pilots?
Just heard a rumour that Airsprint has layed off a few pilots..... is this true or just a rumour? Just wondering what bases did they let the FOs go from? I know someone flying with Air Sprint. They laid off Citation Excel pilots in Calgary (4 total), Pilatus First Officers in Calgary, Kitchener and...

Re: Where will you be?
Do you want to be a pilot when your done Post Secondary? If so, any degree/diploma program you choose will be regarded pretty much exactly the same. With a few exceptions depending on your career path. If you want to fly floats, go to Confed....not Seneca. But as far as 'DIVERSIFYING', regardless of...

Re: Aviation International Canada Guelph, ON
A flight school offering discounts if you pay up front? i hate to say it but it sounds to me like the doors may be closing soon. I wouldn't give them a cent. I seem to remember the same thing happening in Barrie just before a bunch of people we're screwed out of $$$$

Well, I'm not saying that hockey is the way to go, but come on....You will never watch hockey again...???? I think it comes down to a specific relationship. If I was told that I couldn't watch hockey EVER by my wife (girlfriend, fiancee etc) and if I ever did, the relationship would be over...I stil...

Re: kitchener-waterloo flight school
WWFC was a great place but my experience with them was about 6 years ago. Another option to look into is Aviation International in Guelph. It's not as classy a place as Waterloo, but it has advantages. * uncontrolled (read, no delays due traffic volume) * 5 mins to practice area * surrounded by cont...

Re: AirSprint Laying off???
Well I guess that topic was put to rest. I guess this means management has 'Pull' with the rest of the pilots now. and possibly a window into the future....or should i say past? Pilots soon to be working in terrible conditions with very little pay and you can't say a word because there's a stack of ...

Re: Single Pilot IFR/Dual Pilot IFR
Single pilot IFR is WAY over rated. WOW... a pilot that can fly and talk on the radio at the same time...I bet Air Canada is on pins and needles waiting for this guys resume. If you want to advance your career out of the bush (if you don't, and the bush is where you want to be...that's cool), but ha...

Re: Pilatus PC-12 Time?
By the sounds of it, this matter is settled...a mojority of Avcanada poster have spoken and the PC 12 is as good a time builder as a King Air or anything equivalent. Its about time, I saw one up close the other day and it's a pretty cool ship. As far as I can tell, it has more pro's than con's compa...

Re: WX system question - Cyclones - Anticyclones.
That's TC for ya...They only question what THEY understand fully. If you get much more complicated than: cyclone = anticlockwise/ anticyclone = clockwise...they tend to get confused. Imagine what would happen if they had to fly in Australia...

Re: Just a simple question.
Let's see..pretty much all the gear up landings are training flights. I think if Tower controllers were to still make the "gear down and locked' call, it wouldnt make any difference. It would simply add to the list of foreign procedures expected of inexperienced pilots and become another sub-conscio...

Re: What is the deal with Morningstar?
I've heard that they're quite short on crews right now...thus lots of overtime. I guess that's good for some...bad for others. Morningstar is also starting a fractional buisiness with Hawkers/Challengers. I'de be a little wary of these positions. I heard of someone that was offered the job and his c...

Re: Speaking French on the radio
You know what guys, it comes down to a very simple reality. Jazz 2345 cleared to land 24L, and Jazz deux, trois, quatre, cinq d'accord debarquer a la piste vingt quatre gauche (sorry if thats incorrect) The thing is, if i've just been cleared to position on runway 24 L and hear that transmission in ...

Re: Speaking French on the radio
That's exactly my point CAT, but isn't it still a requirement at Jazz/ AC (Cathay for that matter) to be fluent in English?...thus, why can't they speak English in their radio communication. That brings up another question. When these pilots are spewing French on the radio, are their fellow crew mem...

Re: Speaking French on the radio
AuxBattOn, you almost got my point, thanks. If I was a Private Pilot flying in Sometown, Quebec, I would learn enough French to get me by...and I understand that some of these Private Pilots make their way to major centres such as Montreal. My point is, however that if a pilot is fluent in English, ...

Speaking French on the radio
I think its about time, changes are made to prevent pilots (who are fluent in English) from speaking French on the radio. I can understand the private sector but when I fly into Montreal and airline pilots (Jazz and AC) particularly, are speaking French on the radio, something is wrong. I think most...

ok KAFUFO, So we tell ATC whats wrong with the airplane and they tell us what to do? I guess you have to work on you PDM skills. you can't go wrong with the canon...I bought the sd400 a few years ago and upgraded to the 850 not that long ago. very user friendly, plenty of auto settings for almost every photo op, and pretty good video capability to boot...buy a big SD card!!
