Re: Missing Aircraft in BC

I was looking at the list on wiki yesterday. A few more in BC that I know of which are not on that list - Another in the 70's was an American plane going to Terrace from the BC interior. During the search 442 squadron lost a Buffalo in the Telkwa pass. If memory serves, the target of that search wa...

Re: SAR Heemskerk 1982

In 1982 I was flying a C180 for a charter company at Dease Lake. After the official search was called off the father, I think it was, hired a psychic from Simon Fraser in Burnaby and we flew around for a few hours while she held the first aid lady’s personnel effects. She said she got visions of the...

Re: Air Canada pilot refuses to get vaccinated, in peril of losing job

Dr Robert Malone started developing mRNA vaccinations in 1984 and is credited with being the designer inventor of the Vaccine. Here is an interview with him worth watching. As an expert this should give you an understanding why a number of people are a bit concerned about these vaccines. To set your...

Re: Caravan Trys to Eat Otter Tail on Saltspring

Heard a rumour about this accident, from someone close to one of the participants...take this with a pinch of salt. But apparently it was the company owner who was at the controls, and he hadn't done his recurrent training and therefore shouldn't have been flying, and he is apparently trying to pin...

Re: Floatplane Crash Thread

Some guys like to raise the upwind float outta the water which leaves you more vulnerable to gusts that could cause the downwind wing to contact the water, personally I like getting the downwind float out first. Stay coordinated when that float comes up, and don’t increase drag unnecessarily by inp...

I have a C G calculator with numbers up to 5370. They are good for any Beaver if you want mine. I never use it now.
I also have the instructions on set up here too, I think. As far operations manual you can set it that you use the Cee Gee for all calculations, if you wish.

Re: ATC and you

I was raised in north west BC. In 1970 I bought an Aeronca Chief for 2000 bucks. It had no electrics or radios so I flew all over the place around Terrace and a couple of trips to Langley and Pitt Meadows. In those days nordo was well accepted and I stopped to call the PK tower from Chilliwak. Anywa...

Re: I'm going to court

Really? I have been taking "whisper tests" for years and a number of audio-grams as well as two airborne hearing tests "in a plane of my choice with an instructor of my choice" over the years until finally I got hearing aids paid for by Worksafe BC. Why go through all the stress of being argumentive...

Crosswind tips? Climb flap... no flap... extra power.. Any other techniques by the seasoned drivers? Take off flap, maximum power red line, Ailerons full into the wind until effective and opposite rudder. If a yaw starts into the wind with that configuration pull the nose up to set the stern of the...

Re: Beaver Tips

do people actually set the throttle linkage up to stop at 36.5 on a standard day? ... every one i have seen will go way past if firewalled. Will probably go to about 40 inches at full throttle. But pay attention and never exceed 36.5" red line. it is there for a reason. The answer to the above is n...

Re: What do you do after landing long in a floatplane

This technique does not need a lot of training. Here is what you do. On a nice day when you land and are first on the step just push forward on the column very gently just enough to feel extra drag. Now you know how it works. Next time just add a bit more pressure until you feel increased float drag...

Re: Info Request: Hearing Loss - DHC-2 Beaver & DHC-3 Otter

I took my Worksafe BC paperwork to Nexgen Hearing in South Surrey, BC. All they needed was my file number and they did a thorough audio test including having to repeat various words back from a recorded list. Needless to say I got a lot of words wrong. A week later I went back and she fitted me with...

You must unstabiliz...

I hate to bring this accident to the front again, but Global news said this morning that the pilot may have been knocked unconscious by a passenger. That would change the dynamics of this accident . Anyone else seen this?

I also have hearing loss and have been approved for Worksafe BC supplied hearing aids. I have 47db loss in left ear and only 21 in the right ear. Worksafe said no financial compensation but hearing aid will supplied and serviced as required. On the application form I just listed all the employers na...
