Re: Diamond Flight Centre Experience
In regards to DFC, Bill is a great guy with a great team. You must keep in mind here that they are not totally in the business of off the street training. If that's what you're looking for then you'll pay a little more. DFC is set up with the Western University Pilot Program which is a professional ...

Re: AME Conference
If you have the day off I encourage all to attend. Just to clarify this Conference is not associated with the AME memberships such as the regional symposiums. It's an effort between the 4 major carriers and with funding from the generous sponsors. Should be a good time, plus...food and beverage will...

Re: Possible for Station Attendant transfer to Apprentice AM
Heavy maintenance was dissolved and moved to several MRO's within Canada and other countries. The Line Maintenance environment still exists and through attrition are hiring again. This would be the best time to get your foot in the door. Keep in mind, when you put your transfer through, the opening ...

Re: Possible for Station Attendant transfer to Apprentice AM
It is absolutely possible as Conehead mentioned. Lots of apprentice positions opened in the Windsor and Toronto area if you can make the move. Keep your options open to at least get some experience.

My old manager is now the Avionics Manager there and he says things are pretty good. Sorry no details but he was a great manager so if things were bad they should start to change. He was/is a fantastic leader and boss. They were looking for a new DOM a while ago so maybe change is coming.

Re: When will mode C be obsolete
To perform a proper 24 Month Altimeter test the Altimeter must be removed from the aircraft to follow the manufacturers recommendations for adding the vibration portion... That being said, if you're an appropriately rated AMO as CAR 571 App B requires...then that step can be avoided and signed off a...

Re: Who can work on aircraft?
Yes, It is not necessary (Although Recommended) that you complete a 2 year training course to work on aircraft. In fact you can still work towards your AME License if you complete the tasks required in a logbook and complete the exams after 5 years. The 2 year course assuming its a TC accredited fac...

Not too sure why there is so much emphasis on IAI's Drone manufacturing...? What does that have to do with Air Canada sending their B767's to IAI for Heavy Checks? Interesting read though...some inaccuracies but i guess that's expected.

Re: How AD works
Just to confuse the matter. When a Manufacturer issues a Mandatory SB it is still not Mandatory. Only AD's are mandatory. It is up to the owner of an Aircraft to comply with AD's. This may be accomplished in many ways. A MSB is just the Manufacturers suggestion on compliance. I should also add that ...

We had to write an SB for a few Flight Schools in the States operating DA20 C1's to remove the ACS Switch with the turn to start style (shown in the post by the Colonel). Students were doing MAG checks but going to far and engaging the starter. it was to install the push to start style switch. One m...

This has come up a few times before. I think it is best to pick a specialty as a career. You're either an AME full time or a pilot full time. I encourage everyone to expand and learn new things but as a career, Pick one or transition to one. Not both.
