Winter storage for float plane

Parked our beaver for the winter. I put anti -freeze in the floats, disconnected the battery. Mechanic doesn't think anything else is necessary. Thoughts on this? Pickling engine, removing battery....... ?

Be careful with True North. 4 accidents in 2 years since new owners.

FishingLodge.com. All inclusive fly in from Chapleau. Awesome fishing, 100 walley a day per boat this spring. Great home cooked meals. Strictly fly in. Highly recommend!

Re: 2022 float flying season

There is a shortage of seasoned pilots. 2 yr. of parked planes pushed pilots to other professions. Low time airline pilots making poor wages and shitier rotations moved on. Now, the window is also open for higher time bush pilots to move up. I know of 4 operators in Northern Ontario who can't find p...

Thanks for the tips. I fly in Northern Ontario. My main concern was minimum temps and timing to re-warm the engine. Aircraft is classed as a light homebuilt.
Safe flying!

Winter ski operating temps

Hi folks. I have lots of experience on floats but am virtually a virgin on light aircraft on skis. So I have a couple of questions. 1. On a day fishing trip, how long can I park a plane and what is the lowest temp I can expect without a heat source. 2. What is the best. way to keep the engine warm i...

2022Flying opportunties?

So, 2 years ago, there were over 30 bush flying jobs posted in Jan. I'm guessing that there are going to a lot of openings at all levels of aviation, and fewer pilots. Pilots in the bush side have moved onto other trades, young guys who got the right seat couldnt afford the loans, higher time guys h...

Years ago we got an STC to carry bear spray in the floats at another carrier. Any suggestions as to how or where to get one?

I don't work for less than $300 a day or $6000 a month. Don't ask me to wash the bosses car. If I'm not flying, I'm either fishing or golfing.

Re: Seaplane regulation changes proposed

All these opinions are great. However, as an ops manager for a small float operation, where is the "official" rules, regulations, time line, specifications for this. We just bought 4 of the tried and true thin yellow jackets which, I don't think will last a season of constant use. I understand that ...

Re: That didn't take long...

You should read it again. May be required to pay for training. Not the same as PCC. They seemed to have trouble finding qualified pilots in the past. Not a bad company. You stay at a 5 star lodge, free food, good tips. I might even apply.

"This isn't going to last forever, we'll all be eating KD this year but everything will surge back hard as the restrictions are lifted." I wish. Fly in fishing is a luxury vacation. Employment will be a long time recovering. Except for making masks, the economy has just tanked. It will be a few year...

TC MEDICAL EXTENSIONS COVID 19

So, TC has advised that no new medical exams are to be performed until later and all medicals are good til Aug. 1. Great, except I am over 60 and fly commercially on floats. After 6 months, I don't renew my CAT 1 medical but revert to a private endorsement. I need to do my medical in April to renew....
