Re: Hiring child-bearing age females
LOL – The first interview I had back in 1986, the guy asked how many days a month I would have to take off because of PMS. Then said I would have to over-night in a crew house with men, what did I think of that. I was 21 – said I don’t have a problem with PMS or overnights. He rolled his eyes. I was...

Re: Job prospects/Road trip this December
scm I'm sorry I came across like that - we do want family orientated individuals who will plan on sticking around for a while. I thought I explained we would pay for any transfer if company required it. I believe I said the FO position would be out of Thunder Bay, where we have more of the lifer’s b...

Re: Is 337 time considered "real" multi-PIC time or not?
Its government, so as far as I know, there is no leeway. A lot of our guys we’ve hire from there. We don’t upgrade anyone who’s not ready; however we CAN’T upgrade anyone who do not have the hours. We are one of the few operators who can let the competent Captains build their multi PIC on our sched,...

Re: Is 337 time considered "real" multi-PIC time or not?
Multi PIC is Multi PIC, with government contract requirements, even if you are competent, you still need the mutli PIC. A summer at Hicks is the fastest way to get it. Then move to a FO position. If you are any good you will be upgraded quickly!

Re: Sole controller on duty catches up on sleep at Reagan In
Maybe he was using the facilities :toimonster: ; shot an approach once, and the runway lights were not turned on, did a low and over of the FSS building to wake him up – he came back on the radio huffing and puffing the same time the lights went on – he had been alone too, but when you have to go – ...

Re: Training bond case law.
The cost of doing business is training the pilots annually on the aircraft type, so 2 – 3 ground schools/month with associated flight training costs; add the odd initial in there for attrition, depending on industry demand. Back in the day... you needed around 5,000 hours before anyone would look at...

Ya Doc, to be 10 again and doing chandelles and hammerheads with Dad! But at least flying the MU2 has still kept the fun in flying. Hedley, it was Bill Whaley that taught Lisa, Cathy (and tried to teach mom, lol) to fly, and Cathy worked two summers for Bert! Both Bert and Dad made sure we were all ...

Re: Pilot Monitoring of Aircraft Automation
As a ‘professional’ pilot, you may want to take the incentive of continuing your own education and proficiency. A couple of good training videos you should watch!

An MU-2 would only be able to carry around 800 lbs with full fuel, so barely 4 pass. no baggage, and with IFR reserves no more than 900 nm

Re: PC-12 Engine Shut Down
I believe it is 1 per 100,000 hours to get SEIFR approval. The C208 is close to losing their certification, if I'm not mistaken. The PC12 has had 3 in Canada that I know of, but I do not know total hours flown.

Re: Getting out of the bond???
A contract usually includes some kind of amortization for the agreed upon amount. If the ‘contract’ is disputed in court and deemed to be null and void, the ‘promissory note’ stands on its own and is due in full. Usually once this happens, the parties agree to settle out of court on the agreed upon ...
