The Canadian Aviation Expo is a type of aviation trade show which usually takes place in May. It was moved from Oshawa to Hamilton a few years back.
The Hamilton Air Show is still on for Father's day weekend as you point out.

Could you elaborate for those of us with no night experience? Is it because the lights are intended to be seen only from certain angles?iflyforpie wrote:If somebody didn't get the memo that airports with their high-intensity lights are always the darkest part of a metropolis, I could easily see it happening.

Re: CYHM flight school(s)?
There have been some rumors for ... oh let's say 3 years (since PenAir closed) but unfortunately I haven't heard anything concrete about a new school opening. Mohawk might want to since they have the mechanic course now (they use PenAir planes btw; one of them is the one I had my first solo in). It ...

Re: PPL Limitations
There are a few more stipulations, including that you can fly your own aircraft on a business trip and be reimbursed solely for the costs incurred and such. Check out CAR 401.28 for the official word. *shameless plug* I wrote a blog post about this some time ago that you can find at http://www.danny...

Guelph Air Show
Hi Folks,
Just wondering if any one had heard / knew anything about an air show in Guelph this year. I was at the Waterloo Air Show this past weekend and was told that I should check it out but I haven't been able to find anything about it online.
Any info is greatly appreciated!

Get there-itis maybe? There is a lot of pressure in the cockpit and from the looks of it he just wanted to land it.slam525i wrote: Any idea why they didn't go-around?

Re: 500' Circuits
Since low altitude turns are mentioned in the CYKZ Crash thread viewtopic.php?f=54&t=65064, does anyone think low circuits would help in engine failure after take off situations?

Engine or fire problem a couple hundred off the runway -- isn't that a perfect reason to use the chute? They had a chute? He's alluding to the fact that one of the selling points of Cirrus aircraft is their chutes or CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System) http://cirrusaircraft.com/parachute/ http:...

It looks like a phishing letter, kind of like the Nigerian scam ones. I'd say just ignore it or point the writer to your company's / FTU's website and leave it at that.

What if you already have your PPL? I'd imagine they do some flying to see where you're at in terms of procedures and stuff like that but will they start CPL with you after that or do you have to wait?

Re: What's going on at CYFD?
Yup everything is back up and running. At least as far as the silly TC stuff is concerned.
BSL is down for an engine rebuild and they're trying to get JNN (the new C172) on line but they're waiting on TC approval or something so the BFC is down to one 172 (INS) and a 172RG.

From what I heard from some of the people there he took off runway 23 (the longest) and was experiencing some issues early in the take off but seemed to keep at it. Case of "get-there-itis" maybe?

Re: Heaviest/biggest person known to safely spin
I flew with a different instructor for that lesson (guess I should have mentioned that before). My actual instructor was my size too so we were out of the utility category just the two of us in there.
