I'm at EK right now and have been for 10yrs...MattK you nailed it!

@Complex: Where did you convert your ATPL? What do you figure average all in cost in $ and time? PM if you wish but I think others should be informed as well.

If anyone wants to start this one up again, I know of more than a few guys in the sandbox that would drop everything, self included, to signup.

Re: Middle East now open to Turbo Prop Pilots'

FYI, There is very high probability that a VAT will be introduced as well as speculation of an income tax.... The income tax has been proposed but they are evaluating the "effects it would have socially" .i.e. mass exodus of expats. I didn't even mention the cost of schools, if you have kids... just...

FYI Housing in the area can range from $35000-$90000 and more CDN per year...I'm talking rent. Low-end is for an apartment, high-end for a villa. Hydro/utilities could cost as low as $400CDN / up to $1800CDN for said apartment(in winter)/ Villa in summer...PER MONTH...Crazy expensive...Food is also ...

Re: ~ Sky Regional 2014 ~

What's a typical pairing? Check-in time, duty day length? How many days a month do you have to drive/commute into work? How many days free from duty(days off) per month?
How much does it differ by equipment?
I know, lots of questions but these are the important ones for me.

Thanks for any info.

Re: Best way of getting hired with the majors

Leave Canada and go work overseas......If not, you'll never really get ahead in Canadian aviation.
Living overseas can be very rewarding and not just financially.

Just a thought! If people aren't sure how important good Cabin Crew are? Why don't you ask all the pax that survived the Air France crash @YYZ? Remember they are there primarily for safety first, then service (705 ops). If that doesn't change your mind or ease your opinion of how unimportant their j...

Ya, you're right! I'm just bitter. I wish we could listen to music...it would definately make the time go by quicker....company policy....and the grumpy old operators in the back would rat us out. I think it's time to bail-out!!!

....Be very careful if you're thinking of getting into survey flying. A) 2 or 3 month on with one month off may sound cool, on paper, but most people can't handle the isolation for that long. B) The flying is rather uselss, as far as career developement and improving/maintaining IFR skills, trust me...
